Vista/Wireless issues?
Discussion
I'm having a bunch of issues with the wireless back at home, and I'm wondering if the problems are likely to be Vista or the BT ADSL router.
In the house we've got 3 laptops, as well as a PSP and a Nokia 770.
The Vista laptop will regularly loose its connection (IE or Firefox won't connect), but what makes that weird is that some apps will retain the connection (uTorrent being the main one).
The rest of the machines in the place are generally fine on their connection and don't tend to experience any problems.
Suggestions?

When I used to have utorrent going, it drained all the connection and I couldn't log into MSN etc... as they couldn't connect.
If you google Optimising utorrent or similar, you'll notice that they suggest setting the download rate at about 90% of your max and similar for the upload so that the computer can still be used/ updates downloaded/ infomation sent and recieced etc.. With this set up correctly you should be able to use the internet (if not slowly) while utorrent is running and everything should be able to connect fine.

I really doubt its uTorrent thats just hogging the bandwidth - even on the occasion when its not running, I'll just lose all connectivity to the router - I can't even ping the blighter.
If you reboot the lappy does it fix it?clonmult said:

A reboot often (not always) fixes it, sometimes the router needs a reboot as well ....clonmult said:

If you reboot the lappy does it fix it?Have tried on the router, but my housemates lost the password info required to get onto it to perform the updates.
