Havn't much experience with computers now thinking of copying pictures downloading music etc. The system i have Sony Vaio has a DVD drive which plays CD as well. If i want to play music in the car i assume it has to be CD but is DVD better for photos ? What is going on with the - + DVD. Just been looking in the shop, now I'm confused.

I've always bought the cheapest of cheap CDs for photo's and never had a problem and that's goes for anything I have put on them, DVDs seem to be a different matter though, some seem better than others, I had some problems with DVD+ and DVD- so I then used DVDrw+ and had no problems, check what your DVD re-writer can use then you wil know what you can choose from.

I use this website as a resource often, it will tell who makes good media and what media is compatable with which burners, recorders and players:

For the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R check here:

I've found Verbatim DVD and CD media to be excellent, it is reasonably priced and seems to work with the majority of burners, players, Etc.

So i only need CDR realy for photos and music. My tv recorder is a panasonic with the ram discs so there specific to that. Seems that Verbatim look pretty good. Want to keep it simple. Burning discs is pretty new to me and probably not somthing I'll do a lot.

The simple rule of thimb is - if the files are over 700mb - use a Doovde, if they are under 700mb then use a cdr.
