Ok, I'm after some help in setting up email on my girlfriends laptop via MS Outlook. I don't use (and never have) email in this way, so I've no idea how to go about it.

She has MS Office Outlook 2007 on her laptop, and she also has a yahoo.co.uk email account, which I am led to believe will work with the iPhone. Up until now she has accessed her email directly from the yahoo website, and has not used Outlook at all. We've tried pairing up the account to Outlook but we're obviously not doing something right:

We click on "new" to add a new email account and then type in the details to configure a new account. A network connection is established, and the yahoo.co.uk server settings are found. A box then pops up saying "enter network password" - this box has "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk" written in the first box, and then has our username and password automatically entered in the following two boxes. However, when we click on "OK" the box simply reappears as if it had rejected the details. I've tried retyping the username and password in, but it makes no difference.

If I then click "cancel" I see that the third setup stage has a red cross against it - "Log onto server and send a test email". I also see a message on the top of the page that says "cannot log onto server".

What am I doing wrong?

Go in to Yahoo and look under options. You need to turn on POP3 e-mail… there’s also a guide to settings in there.
