Just had the PSU on my PC let go, made me jump when it when bang! I'm running a Pentium dual core processor and the current PSU is a 400W is it a little underpowered for the job.

I put a completely over the top 750W Thermaltake Toughpower modular unit in my AMD dual core HTPC/gaming machine, i only needed 500W but the fact this was probably unstressed in its current state i hope its reliable.
Try not to go for a cheap and nasty unit, places like ebuyer and Novatech have good feedback ratings for power supplies.

500W will be ample providing your not using dual greedy graphics cards,Seasonic,OCZ,Antec,Tagan Enermax all top brands, and not necessarily in that order.

The 750W XClio Modular one in mine was £75. So you can get a nice branded one from say £40ish.
Just make sure as per the above post you don't have any mega draw components on it smile

Corsair have some excellent models too, just put one in my computer and would recommend them.

If you've not gone SLI on the graphics front, I've an unused 550W CoolerMaster PSU you can have for some whiskey tokens and postage.
