Right, I plugged my iPod into my laptop yesterday (its a gen 4 I think, had click wheel, no colour screen) and it came up with the do not disconnect screen, but iTunes never recognised it (i left it plugged in). Then this morning, I turn my laptop back on to find iTunes telling me that the iPod directory is corrupt, leaving me with 22 of 37 GB being full of nothing.

I can go through and sync 15GB of my music manually (if I have the time), but is there anyway I can clear that 22GB of corrupted filespace?

Cheers

Try resetting your ipod. Hold the menu and select buttons until the Apple logo appears.

No joy. I've tried resetting to factory settings too... still says 22GB of corrupted nonsense! frown

Oh well, if needs be I'll hard wire it into the car and buy myself a new one for christmas!

ETA: scratch that, turns out resetting did work biggrin

Excellent!

I've only recently bought an ipod, so can imagine it would be a major pain if it went tits up. Glad it worked out.
