My e-mail hosts have just told me that they don't want my business anymore and have recomended the above folks to forward my e-mail to me.

I just have one address and my own domain name so nothing to tricky.

I need good spam filtering at their end too as I currently get 80-100 a day and have to pay for cloudmark each year to filter it back out of my inbox.

Any better recomendations greatly appreciated.

super speedy response Podie!!

I did look at them but can't see that they do instant mail only (ie. no web hosting needed) or that they have spam filtering and phishing filtering at their end.

Can I be corrected? I'd much prefer to go with them from the PH point of view!!

Only timing is responsible for the speed of response.

Mail Jamie, he'll answer all your questions.

The free mail is unfiltered.
The VDS mail is filtered.

If you want free and filtered, gmail is probably the best option.

Got it at last!!

Thanks for the help. It does seem that in this (very rare) situation, it may be simplest to use 1and1. frown

Thats probably why my dying host recommended them. smile

Thank you for the help. I actually have another domain and intend on setting up a fun website one day, so i'll pop in for that wink

Cheers
Greg

Seconded. I use gmail for personal e-mail and it's filtering is remarkably accurate. I'm not sure that I trust google though so I tend to use my ISP's service for important/confidential e-mail.
As an aside, one of our subsidiaries uses 1and1 for pop3 mail and I've not heard many moans, though their filtering is a bit hit and miss.

I'll second that. www.tyrereviews.co.uk is currently hosted on 1and1 and I'm looking to move (I used to have 3 servers in colo, I miss the good ol' days). Their network is pretty bullet proof but the web / database servers like to go up and down at will. Plus my site lives in germany.

It's just not optimal for something mission critical..

the further you are from your target audience, the slower and more problematic your connection to them becomes..

It also 'looks' bad..

Perception would be.. why would you host anywhere else apart for in the UK if you're a UK company with a UK audience except to be cheap.

smile anyway, anyone who needs servers or hosting, be it 'low cost' or blue chip commercial, check out my profile (or one of my banners in here!) wink
