Can anyone recommend a good free Virtual PC?

I want to be able to run a second XP Install, and perhaps a win98 install.

Cheers,

Stuart

Or Microsoft Virtual PC. But not sure how that copes with Win98 type OS.

That says VMWare Server, will that let me run windows XP as a desktop machine, or 98 as a desktop?

Yep I've run vmware server on XP to run a 2nd copy of XP. It should work fine. It's free so download it and give it a bash smile

Downloading now. smile

I'm trying to cut down my XP install but am running out stuff to take out of it. I'm now at the point where deleting any more stuff could lead to trouble booting. So I will run XP on a virtual machine and use it as a test OS.

I also found a load of old PC games, including syndicate wars, but they don't run on XP frown

Beat me to it smile I think (prepare to be flamed) that you can run the server and the player on the same machine its just that it connects locally instead of over a network.

You cant make a Virtual Machine with player though. Just run one already created. AFAIK

Beware of the licensing issues. You'll need additional real licences for each virtual installation.
