You're unlikely to beat that price without going through private listings (ebay, MacWorld classifieds, etc.)

Have a look here! I have found that I get a better deal by ringing them direct. They are very efficient!

So how do you get to this nivarna HE place then? What's the process?
As I said, you need to be on one of the UK HE networks.http://apple.procureweb.ac.uk/
It is worth noting that you can also get the HE discount price in Apple Retail stores. Obviously, you have to have the required proof of currently being at, or involved with, a HE institution, but its the same level of discount. Handy if you don't want a BTO order or live close to one of the stores.

I didn't know that, but it certainly seems a logical and sensible thing to do.Strangely Brown said:

What is it - presumably a gateway on the old JANET (showing my age now, presumably it's all linked up now and it just knows which IP ranges are from registered higher education institutions) - I really can't believe it's an Apple site.
Apple have been eating their own dog food for a long time - the Apple website has run on OS X and WebObjects for ages. It took Microsoft some time before they started eating their dogfood (MS's website was originally Apache on Unix IIRC)

The .ac.uk domain would be the giveaway there then. Yes, you're almost certainly right. It's just a gateway that controls access from UK HE sites to the real HE Store at Apple. That gateway looks like it is run by Cardiff University.Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
