Does anyone know the activation procedure for Sky broadband? The GF has just gone on to it and the phone monkey told her the router is pre-configured with her username and password. Is this right or are they feeding her a load of old pony?

Her current router is better than the Sky one so I need to get the username and password for the broadband account but it's like pulling bloody teeth banghead

with your pack from sky you should get a small piece of card (about business card size), this contains your login details for the router.

It says on it "Keep me handy, your user information", the SSID and Network key.

I'm sure mine came in my activation pack or with my router. It will look like this (with numbers and letters where the lines are of course)

Ah, that's the Wireless bit.... I was looking for how they supply the actual username and password combination that's needed for the ADSL line.

Are the routers they suppply really preconfigured with the username and password? How do you retrieve it if the router config gets corrupted?

Very interesting. I can certainly debug my DG834GT and grep the pppoa stuff... Let's see if it works for Sky biggrin

They don't, they activate the box at their end. No idea what happens in the case of corruption, i've looked at the menus in the router config and cannot plainly see where the user name/password is stored. You can make a firmware backup if needed.

The router supplied by Sky has your UN & PW for conecting to the internet embedded in it..

The UN admin and PW Sky will only get you into the router setting pages via 192.168.0.1

You can get the hidden info but I guess it's against the t & C's - check here how to
