Work Experience

I'm currently in my first year of university studying computer science and i want to branch into networks in my final year. When i finish my current semester i have a rather large summer holiday and i want to try and find some work experience in my degree field. This is for a number of reasons, to keep me busy so i don't waste my time being bored and mainly because i want to get as much work experience down on my CV before i apply to companies for my year in industry(third year). I am also very interested in web design and have been learning about this in my spare time (so far xhtml, css and currently learning javascript and asp.net).

So i was just wondering if anyone knows of a good way to go about this, or if anyone actually has a placement they would be willing to give me. This would be unpaid work experience. I live in Hemel Hempstead in Herts and i do drive so travelling a small distance would not be a problem.
