As part of my project mel teach yourself new stuff, I've decided to build my own multimedia pc for the lounge the spec' is as follows (all from dabs)

Case:ANTEC DESKTOP FUSION BLACK 430
Motherboard:Gigabyte S775 Intel G33 Express MATX Audio Lan Graphics
Processor:Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 S775 2.66ghz 4mb Cache 1333FSB
Graphics:Sapphire Technology Radeon HD 3870 512MB GDDR4 PCIE Dual DVI
Storage:Western Digital Caviar SE 160GB S300 8mb
BD/DVD:Pioneer BDR-202BK BluRay black bare SATA
Memory:Corsair Memory 2X 1GB XMS2-6400 240DIMM C3 DHX TECHNOLOGY DDR2
Sound:Terratec Aureon 5.1 USB Sound Card

I know it's a small HD but the intention is that the system is wireless to a Home Server machine in the study with 1Tb NAS

OS will be vista home premium

Can some of you knowledgable types please find five mins to cast an eye over the list and make sure I haven't done anything daft or in compatible, also that I'm not wasting money buying things that the rest of the set up can't utilise and that the thing is future proofed enough to do me a fair few years into the future, and is there anything else desirable that I've missed?

Oh yes and one last thing I'm not getting is, the graphics card says it's HDMI and supports BD but looking at the connectors in the pic it looks like simply 2xDVI, now when I mounted the tele on the wall I thought I'd future proofed the cabling by having 2xHDMI cables plastered into the wall along with a could of scarts, a normal monitor cable and stereo phono. But I've got no DVI connection to the tele? Is it and easy conversion DVI to HDMI or do I need another PCI card?

Looks pretty good smile
Unless you're planning on overclocking, the RAM you've bought isn't really needed. PC5300 667MHz will be a little cheaper and more than enough smile
A motherboard with the P35 chipset would be a little better (I know it's in high-regard as being very stable) or if you want to go with dual 3870 graphics cards (a bit of future-proofing if you like) in the future, get a motherboard with the X38 chipset.
The CPU and everything looks pretty nice smile
Like you said, HD space is small, but if you don't need it, then that's ok.
I don't have any experience of DVI->HDMI, but I'm sure (off the top of my head smile) there is a convertor cable you can get.
All in all, not a bad machine at all! thumbup
