indeed but there was no need to as it had warranty

Smart idea, as opposed to posting on internet forums on how to best defraud a company.jedibugs said:
Thesheephair,
I am an AppleCare supervisor and, despite what all these clowns on this board are saying, I actually have seen a verified case of this before. If you'd like, you can email me your AppleCare case number, and I will put a note on the file that will get your repair expedited for you.
strange that - a brand-new user who just happens to be the exact person the OP needs. and one who 'verifies' this has happened before. what are the odds???I am an AppleCare supervisor and, despite what all these clowns on this board are saying, I actually have seen a verified case of this before. If you send it back, they will, and if I ask really nicely, I'll get to see a copy of their report Edited by thesheephair on Thursday 3rd April 17:08

If the glass is bonded to the case works and the case melts / expands with heat couldn't it cause the screen to crack rather than melt.
Not defending the OP in any way but pointing out the glass melting at 1500deg is a red herring, why only the other day I broke a mirror on my car and it was freezing.
Ben

I was just wondering why someone would be so stupid using the same user ID on every forum site imaginable, giving conflicting stories & up pops jedibugs!!.I am an AppleCare supervisor and, despite what all these clowns on this board are saying, I actually have seen a verified case of this before.
