I have a PC from PCWorld that had vista on it. I partitioned the hard drive using the vista partitioning utility and is dual booting with kubuntu. Vista is having problems with the graphics card and cannot correctly set the monitor resolution and when i set it after updating to the latest Nvidia drivers vista is crashing on reboot. I want to reinstall vista with the recovery disc (DVD) but I'm worried it will wipe out my Kubuntu install.

Usually any recovery disk will create new partitions so it'll probably wipe your Ubuntu partition. What make is the PC?

Its a Packard Bell imedia. I have tried to do a partial recovery with an Enterprise Vista disc from work but does not seem to do the trick. If i cannot fix it soon I'll just install XP Pro in the Vista partition.

Thought about cloning the drive onto a second unit before working on the original?
I-media restore partition is or should be F11 on boot. This should give you the option to just re-install the operating system without the formatting as well as a full restore.
