My sister lives in Bradford on Avon and has a very slow internet connection with BT Broadband. If I lived there I'd go round and have a look at it but obviously I don't. On my free.fr broadband over here I can check in my account on the net to see the speed of the connection etc Is this possible with BT?

There are several ways to check the connection speed but that doesnt give any real idea of throughput speed.

Depending on how your sister is connected ie USB modem or Ethernet then they will be able to tell from the that the connection speed. With USB modems there is usually a small icon on the bottom right hand corner, near clock, if you hover over this it will give you the upstream and downstream in bps. With an ethernet modem you will need to navigate to the modem ip address and look there but it will say.

If you want to check the throuput use one of the online speed checkers, just type broadband speed checker into google.
