Dont know what happend to your Networking thread.. but here's my reply.
Can you replicate the issue on a non-demon network?
When it works for the first two times does the ICMP not get rejected on those two?
Also, as the Demon router is giving a 'destination unreachable' error, have you tried allowing ICMP on your firewall for that Demon router? just to check if it makes a difference?
Have you tried eliminating the Demon router all together and connecting via a VPN, this would man all traffic should be passed as is
