I bluetoothed all my contacts over from my Sony Ericsson W850i to my laptop for safe keeping. I now have a HTC Tytn ii. I am running Winows Vista on my laptop. Does anybody know how I can get my saved contacts from 'Windows Contacts' over to my phone? Please...I don't want to type out over 100 names and numbers.

goto microsoft and download ActiveSync

(it may also be on the cd that came with the phone)

install.

that will then allow your phone to sync with your laptop and automatically syncs all contacts in outlook with the phone.

(i dont know if it will work with Bluetooth, as my comp doesnt have Bluetooth capabilities, i just plug the phone in with the USB cable and it syncs fine.)

I can get the files over to the phone from my laptop but they go into the 'My Documents' folder on the phone and not where they're meant to go.

I even manually entered an address on the phone, bluetoothed it over to the laptop, and it went to the Windows Contacts folder. I tried it the other way and it just goes to the documents folder and does not appear in the contacts list.

You are not following the (implied) relevant part of the instructions. Forget your HTC for a secoond. Get your contacts into Outlook (not Express), you will have to import them to get them there. Then set up activesync accordingly and sync up the HTC. They will all appear on your device.

Check the CDs your phone came with, there may well be a copy on there.

There is, you're right. The 'Getting Started Disc' has...

Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5
Windows Mobile Device Center
Microsoft Office Outlook 2007...

The trouble is the disc seems to be corrupted. I've tried it on my laptop and it will get to 99% installed and then stop and with my desktop it will not load at all. banghead

Activesync 4.x does NOT work with Vista. Do NOT install it. All client side sync functions are handled by WMDC.

You need to download Windows Mobile Device Center, plus you need a copy of Outlook, preferably 2007 or 2003.

My vista system didn't come up with this option at first but a few minutes poking about with the active sync settings on the phone and the pcs control panel and it woke up and installed mobile device center properly then you can manage all the sync settings through that.
