it is a bit of a long story, but I am trying to get my new workstation linked upto to our network but am not having much joy.

I can do it quite easily for a XP machine, but when I try to change the domain, it says that the Active Directory Controller for the domain can't be contacted.

If I go through Network ID, it asks me for the PC domain name and username, but surely these are the same as the network? But, no that doesn't work either.

Any thoughts and HELP please!

couple of things to try...

Obviously make sure you're physically connected to the network.

When asked for the domain name give the fully quallified name, i.e. instead of DOMAINNAME try DOMAINNAME.company.co.uk

When asked for the username give it in the format DOMAINNAME\user
