So far....

- Slower
- Terribly unstable
- Not a patch on FF3

Still needs A LOT of work.....still, it's beta so there are many more updates before the next release.

I only installed it to see how some of my websites render.

The fact that without asking it's installed an updater which is now relentlessly trying to get out to the internet does not bode well. Why does the updater need to run in the background at all times - why not just run when it launches like Firefox does?
You've just caused me to check my running processes and what do I find there....? Yup, googleupdater.exe! This is despite having closed and uninstalled the browser entirely.

Christ, just fired up WinPatrol and it's added:

* ActiveX control
* Scheduled Tasks entry

Nasty bit of kit, especially as I'VE UNINSTALLED IT...!

I've also just manually removed over 30 registry entries.

Installing that thing was a mistake. Should've known.

Posting using Chrome...
VMWARE comes in very handy for testing the great unknown smile

Just one question....Why do we need another browser?

The majority of people here who are installing it, deciding it looks nasty and then uninstalling it are completely missing the point. The good stuff is all under the surface. Read the comic strip on the technology behind the scenes. It's really rather good. Roll on the Mac version.

We don't, but what we need is Mozilla to incorporate the good points of chrome (tabs as separate processes etc) though wink

Wonder how long google will keep feeding Mozilla with the $$$$$$ if they now have a competing browser??

I've tried it (using it now) it does work surprisingly well and I like some of the features they've added in, they work well, but I kept on trying to do things that I've added on to FF and wondering why I couldn't, so it will be back to FF for me.

And if it's beta it'll still be full of debugging code so it's gonna get quicker biggrin

I like the simple layout. I don't like the most visited pages though, why not have the same thing as Opera or fast dial in FF3?

I like the tabs being in the title car, it looks so so much better.

I am sure that it will only get better, so quite excited really.

They did say they've taken bits/aspects of what's out there already and implemented them - Private Browsing being one, and moveable tabs being another.
The nine "thing" looks a bit like what Cuil does for its search results.
Gotta say though, the Windows style look really doesn't do it any favours - I would imagine the Mac version will look less cluttered.

I've thrown in the towel.

What a load of tripe that was. It dragged my PC down to crawl at times, although I'm not sure how since Firefox uses about 4 times as much memory whereas Chrome was running on about 40MB!!!

Keep in mind I have 4GB of RAM on my machine (well 3.5MB) wink

I'll wait until the next release and install on Virtual PC, thank you very much. Not trashing my PC set-up again!!!!
