Vodafone 3G PAYG smtp server problems

Can't seem to ping or send emails using my 3G netbook.

It's using send.vodafone.net as the outgoing server.

Outlook shows the sending mail message OK but the emails aren't being sent even though a copy is placed in my Outlook sent folder.

Any ideas?
