Not keen on the styling. Very much prefer the look of my Hero over the Desire.

@Rob123 (OP) Where did you manage to get this for £20? on looking just now the cheapest I can find it is £35 with the handset for free or £30 and paying £60 odd quid for it.

Did you just phone up and get offered it? If that is the case then I may do the same on the 30th, say that someone I know got offered that deal and I want it matching. If they don't I guess I will have to try and pull the "I will leave the upgrade then and see what the other networks are doing"

All of the cashback referral sites are giving about £40 cashback so he probably mentioned this over the phone and they matched it for him. A lot of other customers have done it that way apparently.

I didnt try and barter, I just asked them what deal they could do with me being an existing customer. They offered me it at that price.

I'm having this phone as my next phone.

I'm a long standing existing customer with T-Mob and when i called i was told i was a 'high value' account. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Anyhow, i can't upgrade til 12th June, but was assured a good deal when i call back.

We'll see.

If they are anything like Vodafone they have 3 levels of account. Low Value, Medium Value and High Value.

High Value means you reguarly spend more than your fixed monthly rental and/or have a high monthly rental. They will do a LOT to keep you.

Another thing they do is ask you not to upgrade until such a such time, they will not stop you from upgrading if you say no and your after the upgrade date but they will ask you to hang on say 3 more months or so for "The new prices to come out to save you more money"

Really its to make a little more money off you on an expensive contract before they switch you...whilst this does not seem very good, they do offer some tasty upgrade deals after the 3 months if you agree.

For example, I got free internet added on to my contract, back then it would have been £7.50 a month (no free deals like at the moment back then). So bassicly, I saved £7.50 a month for 2 years on my current contract, £180 saved and a lot less than 3 months cost me!

Don't know how similar this is to my phone, but I have a G2 Touch (HTC Hero) on T-mobile and IMO it's not that great. The touch screen is annoying (slightly smalled than an iPhone) and it is sluggish even on the latest software. It's useless as a phone, the bluetooth doesn't work properly with headsets or file transfer (serious issues IMO) and the camera is crap. I will wait until Tmobile finally release Android 2.1 for it and hope it improves, but I think an iPhone (I have an iPod Touch) would be a better option if it want so damn expensive.

I am currently tempted to give up on touch phones and buy a sony W995....

I've resigned myself to the fact i'm going to end up with a touch screen phone.
I'm still torn between an Iphone 3GS & a HTC Desire.

Thing that swings me to the Desire is Tmobile do it & vodafone do a 12month deal on it, plus its probably going to save me a lot of money than getting an iphone contract.

I bought an unlocked T-Mobile G2 from ebay a few months ago and found it sluggish too. The other day I spent a couple of hours getting Android 2.1 on it and it has given it a big speed increase. It's now as fast as it should have been when it was released. I'll find the link I used that guided me through it if you fancy having a go. It won't fix the rubbish camera though!

Anyone know the process for unlocking iPhones? Do you just walk into the shop?

Just had a play with one there. I must say i'm very impressed.

Only slight issue would be that the screen seems very sensitive.

HTC's sense UI is fantastic though - very smooth.

I reckon this will keep the iPhone on it's toes!
