My contract is up and I'm going from T-Mobile to GiffGaff. I now need to get the handset unlocked - does anyone have any recommendations for this?

One S on play.com: http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/29735505/HTC...

£5 cheaper than I paid for my Desire nearly two years ago. I think I might wait a few months to get it though as there is nothing wrong with my Desire and it still does everything I want it to.

Just loaded the Sandvolds ICS rom Ver 3.10.
Any hints or little tricks you have found for general use.
I know by design its a lite ROM, but I just dont want to be missing any tricks. Thanks

Thanks to everyone here for help and links.

Now rooted my DesireZ, took about an hour as doing it very slowly to avoid errors and needed to downgrade

Now running Andromadus V12 as I type this which is only real stable ICS ROM for the Z. Looks and works great, touch wood it stays this way.

Feels like a new phone!

I just unlocked mine using the Linux iso from the XDA link above - I have no Windows. smile

The first run with my (locked to) Orange SIM failed despite claiming success so I tried again with a giffgaff SIM and it worked.

Since Orange would have taken a week and charged me £20 sending sieempi €5 for a beer seemed very reasonable.

hoping someone can help

I am on my second HTC Desire. had it 18 months. about 12 months ago my phone started to use battery power really quick. IE 100% power to 0% after 4 hours. after lots of trying to sort it out I contacted Vodafone and they replaced the phone. No idea what was up with my old phone. But it was always HOT!

been working 100% since then until yesterday. Started doing the same. fully charged this morning and within 1 hour is down to 59% power. frown

Googled to try and find more and come across dialing *#*#4636#*#* and select battery history.

Gives loads of info but also says "since last unplugged 100% running without sleeping? is my phone running all the time without sleeping? shutting down and why it is using power really quick.

I have not dropped or damaged my phone at all.

Any help on this?

That's because it's actually Google's phone and not Samsung's. Google phones will always use vanilla ICS. The Nexus One was the same.

I've just done this and mine said 100% too, but I have been on it since it had a "boost charge". If you change it to 'since last reboot' does it still say 100% as mine went down.

Can any of you guys help please?
My Desire S camera isn't saving the pictures I've taken. It's only saved one picture of about 12 I've taken in the past fortnight.
When I go to gallery after taking a pic the preview pic is a warning triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle.
I'm using the stock camera btw.

I had the same problem with my Desire last year. I was really gutted as I lost around 30 holiday photos. It was something to do with the memory card I recall. I just took it out and restarted the phone and it sorted itself out.

Quick heads up to anyone that isn't happy with their keyboard: Swift Key X is about 50p on a sale at the moment and I think it's a cracking keyboard. I couldn't get on with Swype - I loved the idea but the dictionary adding a millions mistakes and generally guessing wrong was my issue. Swiftkey is brilliant though - I just jab in the general direction of the key I want and it normally guesses right, along with the next word for phrases I regularly use (it reads old texts etc to get to know your style.)

Got a Sensation XE yesterday, (well we got two as himself was wanting a HTC), how the heck do Phones4U make any money, they bought out the rest of the contracts, gave us the phones, along with drive kit and a touchscreen kit.

Anyway, I like it, the only thing is I miss the old weather app, not sure about this accuweather one, it always shows me as being in the UK, but when I click on the link to the main website, then it tells me where in the country I am. I also went through the demo screens and was miffed to lose the windscreen wiper and the frosting, but it still does the windscreen wiper on the home screen, so that's nice.

Just need to get myself one of those stick on screen protector thingies (the one in the touchscreen kit was way too big and didn't want to stick after it had been trimmed)

Two questions (boring one first.)

I'm still having the space issues I mentioned a few pages back on ICS - it should have the Gparted partition on my SD card (the phone shows 14GB total memory for SD card) but it doesn't seem to want to use the 1GB partition like it's supposed to - despite other ROM's recognising it. It wasn't really an issue but theres a 6MB update for Maps and despite having 16MB free it refuses to update saying "insufficient storage." Any ideas?

Second question is if there's a way of connecting an external card reader to my phone?
