v0.4.4.4.1 is pretty good - use it every day
Tried updating to that yesterday and after half an hour with the blue X I took the battery out. Probably just need to redownload but emphasis is on stability right now so I don't want to take any chances - 0.4.4.3 has munched my battery and frozen or switched off without me knowing and I really don't want that to happen for the next few weeks.

0.3.10 isn't still available, will try 0.3.2. Cheers.

Anyone know which is the most recent stable ICS build? I'm on the latest version and under normal circumstances I could put up with the odd random reboot, but for the next few weeks I need something that is perfectly stable all of the time (missus due to give birth soon.)

Funk, I followed your guide ages ago and currently run RCDMix. For these newer roms, does anything else need doing before copying the new rom to SD card and following stages 16 and 17?
Nothing - delete the old ROM, clear the Dalvik and install the new ROM!
Cheers. Will give it a go tonight.

Can I upgrade to that without a full wipe or is it recommended? Does the camera preview work yet? Are there any other glitches?
I just wiped Dalvik
Preview works
I have not seen any

Was it just a case of wiping Dalvik cache to go from 3.something to 4.5?

According to cuneus, yes. I just wiped DC and installed 4.5. I did re-do the as2d and cache2sd as outlined above, just in case.

Working fine so far.

Edit: Still working great, no crashes or FCs. And it's smooooooooth. Very nice. Very nice indeed. Am back to questioning whether I need to upgrade when my 24mo contract ends in 2 weeks' time.

It took me a while (first time rooting and flashing) but I've now got ICS on my phone I'm on build 0.5.1 which appears to be pretty good so far.

Takes a bit of getting used to IMO as for some reason the Home button doesn't function on the handset since the new ROM install. Is it just the handset or is it due to ICS?

edit - bugger, now the locksceen doesn't work.
edit 2, a few hours later - now I cant receive calls. This is pissing me off.

Just for the sake of testing again, I tried 0.5.1. Everything works now, bizarrely.Everything except Play shop.

I changed to 0.4.5 today, all fine except for the a2sd. It worked fine last time, but tgis time in the terminal I'm getting this, and I'm already getting low space notifications.

Any ideas? I've tried remounting the SD, and it accepts moving the cache and app data to it

I would check the SD card partitions - perhaps remove and reseat the card?

FWIW, I've gone back to 0.4.4.4.1 as I was finding that the phone would refuse to 'wake' when the power button was pressed on 0.5.1.

As it happens, I'm now in the process of negotiating an upgrade with T-M; looks like I'll be getting either the SGS2 or Sony Xperia S - just working out which one is worth more if I sell it on immediately (I think the SGS2 will be...)

Then I'll sell my Desire as well and buy a One X off-contract...

Change of plan. Rather than get a brand new SGS2 to sell (which is a faff) I'm going to see what T-M will do for one on-contract directly. I have a £5 loyalty discount that will come off when my contract ends so I'll be up to £15/mo. The chap I spoke to today has offered me the following, subject to price on the One X:

900 mins
500 texts
Unlimited 3G for browsing
1.5Gb for downloading/streaming
Booster for text/landlines/T-M calls as required
0800, 0870, 0845 calls inclusive within my 'minutes'
One X free on 24mo contract (tbc, but it's likely to be close to the Sony Xperia S value)

£20.50pm inc VAT

I think that's a pretty reasonable deal all-in. Hope he's right on the One X pricing. I should get about £100 for my Desire on eBay; it's mint condition and I'll put it back to Gingerbread stock ROM before I sell it.

Sounds good! Shame I can only get Vodafone signal at home, limits me a bit when it comes to upgrade time!

That is a very good deal.

The rather stern Welsh lady at T-Mobile this morning offered me...

300 mins
500 texts
unlimited 3G browsing
250 Meg data!!
£200 for the HTC One X!!
£21 per month

Alternatively, I could stay on my £10 a month deal (which I would prefer) and pay £290 for the HTC One X.

Haven't been down the retentions route yet so could probably squeeze a bit more but, otherwise, not great.

That is an outrageously good deal. 1.5Gb + unlimited 3G browsing + free phone @ £20 a month - they must be mad to give you that deal.

Was that from retentions? I'm tempted to chase them for a similar deal on either the X or the S. If they can do it for you, they should be able to do it for me as I too have loyalty discounts. I think you should get about £90 for the Desire as it seems to be the going rate. I'd certainly sell my Desire for that.

Agree very good deal.

Just pulled the trigger on it. Slightly better tariff though;

1200 mins
Unlimited text (using Booster)
1.5Gb download
Unlimited browsing
Ability to make Skype calls over 3G
08 numbers included
24mo
Free HTC One X

Comes in at £23.00/month with my F&F discount (which, I've discovered, I'm on the old scheme - newer F&F discounts only last the life of the contract, mine is forever. Nice.)
