Waiting on my business debit card before I can order a One X, knew I should have applied for it sooner. smash

I think I will hold on to my £10 month contract (forever!) and try to get the phone as cheaply as possible through retentions. Coupled with £100 for my Desire (hopefully), it shouldn't be too painful.
Just got to wait 8 days now before asking for my PAC code, then playing the 'leaving' game...

I was on £10/mo for the old Flext 30 plan. However, it limits what they can offer you toward the 'free' phone. I was about to lose a £5/mo loyalty discount (that apparently I should never have received!) and with the price increase on the tariff of 3.7%, it would've been heading toward £16-17 a month anyway. For the extra few quid I'm getting an awful lot more (the inclusion of 08 numbers alone is worth it, as they normally cost me a few quid outside my inclusive minutes, plus I can now call my sister in the US on Skype using VoIP from anywhere rather than having to be at home on wi-fi).

I picked up my One X today to replace my Nexus One - apart from the fact it is huge I am impressed so far. Still getting everything working on it, the apps I paid for seem to be wanting me to pay again but will investigate further.

I got it free on the O2 on and on tariff - unlimited calls and texts, 1gb data for £31 per month after a lot of haggling.

If you sign into the phone with the same Google account you should be able to recover all the apps you paid for.

It worked for me when I went from the Desire to the Galaxy.

HTC One thread here: http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t...

Very tempted to get one but don't want to get into a contract. Might go Sim Free for £411.

BUMP

So, anyone been using CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1?

I've been using it about a month now on my Z, certainly seems zippier than 7.1 stable, though from time to time my data won't turn on.

Upgraded from a Desire (can't believe it was this thread 2 years ago that convinced me to get the Desire, and the thread's still running) to a Sensation a couple of months back and it's a cracking phone. But then there was a software update (now on Android 4.03 Sense 3.6) a few weeks back and it's now crap. How thay've managed to turn a decent phone in to slow and clunky piece of st is beyond me! A quick bit of googling suggests I'm not the only person who think's it's completely rubbish either.

Anyone happen to know if there's supposed to be a bug fix happening soon?

If not I think I'm going to have to root it as it's realy pissing me off.

Yes its on my desire. I haven't used the phone in anger as it is now a backup phone, but it seems good.

Try a rom without the Sense stuff. The sense stuff slows things down big time. 4.03 (or even 4.04) is a cracking bit of software.

Can anyone point me in the direction of something that will tell me what bits are Android and what bits are Sense? I've liked the interface on the Desire and Sensation so if I do root it I'd like to know what bits will change.

When you've rooted it, install Cynagenmod, which is the vanilla android, play with it you'll know what's missing.

Ive got a problem with my desire. When I turn it on all I get is the white screen with the green htc and that's it. I've had some issues with it overheating and rebooting. Hopefully someone can help as I am stuck with no phone at the minute.

Try doing a factory reset.

Press and hold the volume down key when turning the phone on. It'll put you into the 'bootloader'. In there you'll find the option to reset the phone to factory settings. Sounds like something's not right with the ROM and a reinstall should fix it.

Yes, but not from the SD card. If you can't get in/use the phone at this stage, you really have nothing to lose. Your contacts etc should be backed up via Gmail and you can reinstall your apps from the Market very easily.

The only thing you'll lose is text messages and stuff like in-game progress unless you back them up regularly?
