Annoyingly I reset my usage statistics last week in LeMans to see how much I used, so not sure what I do a month.
As far as usage statistics, if you are on O2 can you not log into My O2 , OK I mean *your* "My O2" and look back at usage on previous bills. I have been looking at mine right back to including the Crackberry which preceded the iPhone, ie to 2008ish.
Oh good stuff about Myo2 thanks I'll look at my usage then through that. Knowing more data-hungry services are coming, of course, but at least it gives me an idea smile
Where in MyO2 can you find your data usage? I'm struggling - I can see previous bills (lots of them) but they only give me the value of additional texts/minutes and also the total bill - no data download usage at all. I'm currently on the iPhone unlimited package so is it not recording it?!

Ah you bloody star - thanks, I was really struggling to find it. Got it!

Very interesting and very useful; 154mb last month, result.

Interesting what they say about the data cap; you always find the call centre people know bugger all, though hehe

£599 wasn't that far removed from the 3G new prices, was it?!

I've just gone for 16GB, never ran out of space at all on my 3GS.
That's because it had a 2mp camera and poor quality video smile

The new one has mega-super-duper-massive-ultra-wow-HD.

Though I, too, thought the same thing and will probably go for a 16gb because I have never filled my 16gb 3G either.

3.2 MP

Pistonheads, facts matter. smile
Ah apologies - I've got a 3G, not 3GS, which does have just 2mp. (didn't actually realise they were different until I just checked!)

So, they blinked first smile

edit; they don't look like bad prices, at all. £169 for £40 contract over 18months. Very reasonable.

edit#2; and at 24 months of £40, it will cost me £69 for an iphone 4?!??!

Not as good as Voda though, if these are to be believed.
Very true. I wonder if they were "real" or not, to mess with the other suppliers?

I had said to myself that, because of money, I will not get a new iPhone for a few months. But at <£100, you're dam right I'm going to be getting one smile

So no matter how I look at this I dont understand why people take out contracts and get tied in for so long confused
Because it, essentially, spreads out the payment for the phone rather than spending £599 in one hit.

My iPhone 3G was the first time I had a contract greater than 12 months. I was anxious, but as it turns out I don't feel like I need to upgrade at all, it's just that as the new 4 is coming out, well...y'know smile

Fair enough but for arguements sake if someone was to put £600 on a credit card with an APR of 11.9% it would take 18 months to repay it at £40 a month - thats including interest of £62.32 ..still works out cheaper going sim free smile
Interesting thought. You'd still have the line rental, of course, and on the simplicity (or whatever other networks call theirs) tariff then that will bw £15 I think? The numbers will ultimately be fairly close - though one will remain cheapest of course.

When O2 eventually release their prices then a few spreadsheet/back of fag packet calculations will occur and decide from there.

Has any of that (the undercutting) happened with the existing iPhone? Ok, the big main networks have never had the iPhone so readily available, but I'd be surprised if it does get like that.

All very valid points and certainly something I'll calculate when the figures get released.

While it's never caused me a problem in the past (being locked in), I guess with the competition and especially inevitable data war (when the facetime thing kicks off) it might be worth considering.

Ignore that, facetime is wifi only.

Ok, the data war when HD etc. comes big.

Collect from store?

I did not think carriers (O2, Voda, T-Mob, Orange etc) was doing pre-orders until tomorrow at the earliest.
The apple store, I assume.

was looking on the o2 forum and someone posted a link to show how to swap swap from your regular sim to microsim. Problem is i can see it from the link but not if i go on to the o2 site and search for the info (which is a part of the iPhone guru James stuff). Could something dodgy be going on?
And that link is?

Cos That's just made me think. I've not got a micro sim.
The link is http://shop.o2.co.uk/new-iphone/aboutsimswap.html# but i would be wary about pressing any buttons on that page! The same info has been posted by two separate posters (exactly same info) and i can't find the same info when i go into the o2 site myself even tried searching for microsim. The link appears to be part of their latest news where guru james was giving bits of new info every day but the above link is not part of this latest news. I'm worried it might be some kind of phising thing!
looks like the page i was talking about is up on o2 site and it explains how to swap over to microsim. Doesn't explain if you can do it before you get iPhone 4 so it can be ready once the phone arrives. Does mention that it can take 24 hrs to change over!

Sorry it does explain! Just checked again and you have to put in that you have got your microsim already

I'm sure I read somewhere that the micro sims come with a small plastic adapter that takes them up to normal sim size. Much like a micro sd card does.
