June 7th is iPhone announcement day
Discussion
Not had any signal issues with mine, but I ordered the free case anyway, because, well it was free! I went for the apple 'bumper' rather than any of the other ones, I was initally quoted about 4 weeks delivery but it turned up yesterday. I put it on and tried to get the signal to drop, it made no difference, still a slight drop when squeezed like before! Still don't like having a case on my phone so it'll probably just sit on the side at home!

So how many people with iphone 4's are having problems with reception and loss of signal ?
Me, often. Anyone who is saying they aren't obviously doesn't live in a medium-bad signal area. It only affects you when you're already low on signal, but if I hold it, the signal just disappears. I have to often hold my phone like this, to get any signal.I went to an apple store, and tried out 6 different phones, which all did the same thing, before they told me to go away.
That said, I love the phone, and once I have a bumper (which look pretty good and like they're part of the phone), i'll be perfectly happy. Watching HD videos make my eyes bleed. So it's all good.

A mate rang me a few days ago on an iphone4 and there was an annoying beep every few seconds as if he was pressing the keypad. Think I will wait a while before I order mine
I'm not sure the keypad even beeps if you use it during a call, but regardless, the screen looks itself when you put it to your ear to stop that, and automatically unlocks when you move it away. Either that, or he had you on speaker phone and was playing Angry Birds while you spoke.
Not what I'd call the *best* reason to discount the phone
i want one and i am at the end of my contract on my 3g. but i am not an early adopter these days. will wait until al the small niggles are sorted out. my mrs has her eyes on my current phone so it will not be too long i think.

I did. I live in an area with generally bad reception and, for me, the phone would often just lose all signal when held in the way that I hold any handset. It dropped three calls in one day, in a part of my home where I get the best signal (and no dropped calls from any of my other handsets), and for me that wasn't on. So I returned the phone to Apple for a full £600 refund.I shall purchase another once the aerial is sorted, whether that be through an engineering improvement, a firmware update or a decent invisishield package.
Incidentally, the phone behaved absolutely perfectly throughout Manchester and indeed throughout Tunisia!!!

Quick question - Is it possible to be on a call and use the calendar at the same time ?
Yes. AFAIK you just can't do 3G data in a call. you can do contacts, calendar etc.Olivero said:

My bumper arrived yesterday. I like it but the phone no longer fits in the dock and all the old USB leads from previous gen ipods / iphones no longer fit in the port at the bottom. So you have to take the bumper off to recharge it. Hugely annoying.
I just cut away the plastic to increase the size, works fine now with the old big leads.va1o said:

Why nobody knows the procedure with these things is beyond me, its really fking annoying. They want people to early adopt these fking things, I'm willing to do that, and then they make it the hardest thing to do in the world.
Agreed they are pretty disorganised.I *think* how it works is the Apple stores will only sell you them SIM Free (£499), and O2 stores will only sell them as contract upgrades to existing customers. The former option would have required a reservation as far as I understand.
