Yes. And no.

Mine's been perfect, as has many other people's on this thread.

However, some people have been less lucky and really struggling, to the point where they've taken them back. I think the "good" far out numbers the "bad", but make your own mind up. Personally, I really like it and would certainly suggest you don't cancel or anything like that.

I bought a bumper yesterday. Doesn't feel like £25 but it fits beautifully, does a great job of protecting the phone and cures the antennae issue. Happy.
I agree - it looks like it shouldn't do much, and £25 is a bit (!) steep, but it really makes a huge difference - surprisingly so.

Other than that... I'm indifferent about the whole thing.

Advantages;

1. Battery life
2. Camera
3. Slight increase in speed over 3GS but nothing to write home about.

All other advantages come from the software rather than hardware.

Disadvantages;

1. I'm scared of handling the thing in case I end up dropping it.
2. Everyone wants to 'have a quick look at it'
3. Cost
4. The rear glass tends to be slippy and if you place it down on a slight incline it will slide off. I usually put my phone on top of my wallet when I put them down at home or in the office etc, quite often I come back and it has slid onto the floor.
I (half) agree with you here, too. Don't forget the better screen and the touch sensitivity of it feels a lot better too - more like the iPad than my old 3G. But other than that, it's software improvements.

It feels slick, looks good, works great and was a natural thing to do after having my 3G for 18months.

Oh, regarding the rear glass being slippy - get yourself a bumper. It raises the phone off the table/wallet etc. ever so slightly and with a grippy rubber lead edge. It's expensive, yes, but is surprisngly good. Not just the "rubber band" that everyone claimed.

You're probably the exception, but unless you've got a mega dirty job and major risk of scratching it, I can't see the point in these. Apple spend ages perfecting the touch of the screen and how it reacts, for us to put a sodding great bit of plastic over the front hehe

Indeed, someone on the thread mentioned wanting a case like that as well.

FWIW i don't use any case as mine lives in a holster in the tractor as the inside it's lined with felt and doesn't trap dust against the screen, i'm a real phone prophylactic freak i can't stand anything getting between me and it hehe
Mine lives in the same pocket as my keys, screen guards are a must...
My 3G did too - and money, lighters etc. Not a single scratch on it - the screen was superb. Apparently the 4 is the same - friend of mine bought hers from O2 Bluewater on the day it came out, she said there was a bloke with a razor blade (!!!!) running it all over the screen - didn't touch it.

EIGHT HUNDRED AND THIRTY POUNDS!!! eek
A guy I was working with the other day bought one on the first day and sold it on ebay, unopened, for over a £200 profit.
The person I linked to made over £300 pound on that, after fee's probably £250.

Next June/July I'll reserve 10 at different apple stores, take a day off work to go and get them all and make a few £k.
Without wishing to rub salt in your wounds, you also said you'll have a 4 on release day.

I CBA to jailbreak my 4. I've done my 3G and 3GS but there's not enough apps (hackulous not included) that make it actually worth it.
That's where I am with mine, too - I did it to my 3G, just because I could really, but got nothing out of it aside from a wallpaper and no text on my bottom icons hehe

My + at the top, as it should be.

I've already scratched the back, non scratch my ass.
How are you getting on with it? Like it - love it?! I can't recall where you got yours from in the end and if it's an upgrade on your current contract.

I'm sticking with the 3GS for the moment and will upgrade in December.

As an aside, and it applies to all of these gadgets, have you protected the screen and back? Will you do so? I bought something called an 'Otter box' (which I'm convinced is a euphemism) but have taken off the screen protector as the naked screen is so much nicer without a condom on.
I've only got the apple bumper on mine and I think it's great. I agree with you that I don't like the feel of the screen with something on the front of it. Not least, a friend of mine got her phone on launch day at O2 Bluewater and there was a shop assistant running a razor blade (!!) across the screen and it didn't touch it. So the screen itself is fine, just maybe the back may scratch - though mine looks good so far (had it 10 days now).

A mate rang me a few days ago on an iphone4 and there was an annoying beep every few seconds as if he was pressing the keypad. Think I will wait a while before I order mine
I'm not sure the keypad even beeps if you use it during a call, but regardless, the screen looks itself when you put it to your ear to stop that, and automatically unlocks when you move it away.

Either that, or he had you on speaker phone and was playing Angry Birds while you spoke.

Not what I'd call the *best* reason to discount the phone smile

Quick question - Is it possible to be on a call and use the calendar at the same time ?
Yes. AFAIK you just can't do 3G data in a call. you can do contacts, calendar etc.
Great, all I need is access to the iCal on the phone. It will be linked to my Gmail Calendar, but I don't need that to be live all the time.
When in a call simply push the home button and it takes you to the main screen. You then have a green bar at the top of the home screen which is your call, and you push that to go back to it (though the whole time you are still speaking/live).

There were rumors of an iPhone Nano a couple of years ago. Seems like a good idae - my girlfriend has an iPhone4 and yet has one application and nothing else on it (Fbook!). It's perfect for her, and she loves it, but nevertheless it shows there is a market for a smaller version.

I heard rumors that it will be iPhone5, not 4s or 4+ or whatever, as in a new phone. Then again, how many times has the word "rumors" been used hehe
