Have been shown a cracking deal on the Overclockers website for a gaming wheel (Logitech G27) that ships immediately, together with a back order on GT5 for the PS3.

Have read both good and bad reviews on the web about them, both customer service and non-new items shipped as new.

Does anyone have any personal experience of using them? Are they reputable?

cheers Bradders

Have used them a few times previously for specific stuff, but they're very rarely the cheapest.

I saw the G27 deal, looks good, be quick though as its limited to the first 50 sales?

I used to use them lots, years ago. They are fine until you have a problem. In my case, it was being sent the wrong parts and it taking over three weeks to resolve.

I have used Ebuyer, Aria and Scan many times and Ebuyer's returns service (tested a couple of times) is quick and painless.

You'll probably be fine with them.

Logitech wheels are pretty reliable so you should be ok.

Always found them good to use, think there delivery prices are a bit steep for some things though.

Not the cheapest around and their delivery charges make cry.

Thanks to all. Have now placed the order with Overclockes and cancelled with Dabs.

Shipping was a tenner, and with that added, the price is the same as Dabs, but with a free game to follow in November when it comes out.

Smashing!

Cheers Bradders

Forum spam is the way ahead. 250 posts and you get free P&P.

I'm slowly totting up my posts prior to an upgrade.

Their owner (who was a PHer - but no longer posts) made some interesting public comments a while ago...

I've used them before, but have heard questionable things about aftersales.

If I'm not mixing them up with another outfit - and if I am I unreservedly apologise and withdraw these remarks - their after sales line (to get a return number for an item that didn't match the description on their site) was premium rate and kept you on the line for a very long time after the call was answered by a computerised system

"Spie" being his name on the forum? He's had some decent motors that I've seen posted on their forum.

What were the comments?

Edit, not hard to find. Just Google "Spie Overclockers" and it all becomes clear wink

I had a monitor fail early this year. As requested, I sent it to the UK importers for repair. This was over 6 months ago, and they are now not responding to my (polite but firm!) emails. When I approached Overclockers about this, they basically said go boil your head. Actually, they said go away and take legal advice, its not our problem. Asking around, this seems to be their typical response to a faulty item.

The returns issues sound a tad worrying, but fingers crossed. Hope to know for definite tomorrow.

How long after purchase did it fail ?

Personally, I prefer not to use them if I can avoid doing so. If your order arrives correctly the first time and nothing goes wrong, then great.

I was building a Shuttle PC for someone, about 6-7 years ago. They sent the wrong one and it took nearly 4 weeks until the correct one arrived, having to chase their returns dept.

In contrast, I ordered a pressure washer from Amazon. It arrived damaged so I went through their online returns process. They immediately dispatched a replacement and told me I had a month to arrange return of the damaged one - for which I printed their postage-paid return label.

I don't concentrate simply on 'cheapest' any more. (And I certainly don't bother with the jokers on ebay for anything new and of significant value).

I used to use OcUK all the time. Now I use EBuyer - same or better choice, and considerably better prices.

I've used them a few times and have always found pricing and service to be very good, I've never been unlucky enough to have to return anything though.

Another point worth knowing is that if you are based in the Midlands or NW they allow collections from their Stoke base which is just off M6 J16... I had an issue where I required some SATA hard disks urgently one Saturday afternoon, reserved and paid for the items then had them in my hands a few hours later. PC World convenience but with internet warehouse pricing and product range.
