Thread resurrection chaps...
My battery is now worn out after over 1,000 recharge cycles and I'm after opinions on what the best replacement battery is...so...any suggestions?
All advice gratefully received.
See if you can still get the 2000mAh official samsung battery. Gets a nice back cover and lasts a couple hours longer than the one delivered with the phone. My battery is now worn out after over 1,000 recharge cycles and I'm after opinions on what the best replacement battery is...so...any suggestions?

I've been offered a Galaxy S4 by a guy at work. Its BNIB and he wants 375 with some cover. I'm happy enough with my S2 but I have had it for a while now and thinking maybe its time to upgrade. Has anyone else made the switch? IS=s it just newer and quicker?
The display is on another level altogether. Speed is also a lot better. But, the S2 is still a great phone, and the form factor of the S4 might not be to everyone's liking.
The smartcover (if that's the one) on the S4 is a great piece of kit imho.
My S2 keeps crashing, and something's making it heat up excessively. When I re-boot the batter has dropped to almost nothing.
Thinking of chopping in for either an S4 because I do generally like my S2, or maybe an iPhone 5 just so it matches the mrs (itunes etc) and for ease of use... can't help thinking I like the customisability of the android too much though.
Do the latest phones still have these overheating, crashing issues??

Well I just changed mine for an S4... I was pretty happy with my S2 so seemed a good choice!
So guess I'll un-bookmark this thread now!
It's the logical choice, the screen on it's own is worth the upgrade! So guess I'll un-bookmark this thread now!
They are quite different in size though, got a picture of my own:
LTR: HTC One V, S2, Oppo Find 5 (S4 size), Nexus 7
I thought it would be harder to hold, and put in the pocket - but I don't notice.
screen is nice, less tiring to look at because of the size and clarity.
noticeably faster (though I'm sure that'll wear off)
think I'm going to get some NFC tags so I can change the settings quickly... e.g. pair to our bluetooth soundbar and open the music app, set up and pair with the car bluetooth, settings how I like them in the office.
I was sceptical because I didn't NEED anything better than my S2 but this is worth it.

A high and a low point today
Dropped my S2, breaking the screen. Screen went all fuzzy and full of lines, turned it off to see cracks and chips all up the left hand side of the inside of the screen. I was surprised as i've dropped and banged it many times before and it's been fine. Ordered one off ebay for £50. Can't complain, it's about 2.5 years old and it was my own stupid fault for breaking it.
A few hours later the postie arrives to deliver my Exomount car mount, so now I have a new mount but no phone

I just dug this thread up as the wife's seemingly invincible Galaxy S2 is starting to annoy her because she's waiting for the damn thing to die so she can replace it
It's quite amusing reading the first few pages - particularly people saying that the S2 is far too big; it's dwarfed by the modern equivalents.
While the iPhone started the touch screen revolution, I think the S2 could be considered as the first smartphone that got everything right. Looking at this one five years after launch and it's incredibly thin and light, the screen still looks good despite the low-res and - probably because it's been lightly used -it's surprisingly responsive.

I'm still using my s2 after nearly 5 years. Never been in a case and still works perfectly! I might replace it with an s7 though, only because I feel like I want a change. Has been a brilliant phone so far. It's quite amusing reading the first few pages - particularly people saying that the S2 is far too big; it's dwarfed by the modern equivalents.
