T-Mobile have finally got their st together and I now have ICS on my phone! biggrin

It's ridiculous that it's taken this long, but I'm looking forward to playing with it and finding out what's new and better!

Check the calendar & gmail app, and keep the home button pressed for 2 seconds.

Also, mine is doing much better on the battery front. I also like the fact that the lowest volume isn't "vibrate" anymore, it's completely mute, so not even vibrate. So you go:
  1. Mute
  2. Vibrate
  3. low
  4. higher
  5. ....

On taking it apart there was a weird rubber membrane thing behind the screen which was soaking wet, I think it kind of 'wicked' all the water in.

New Samsung screen was £100 fitted so not the end of the world, costly mistake for a seconds forgetfulness!
Just thought I'd add, this new screen is definitely different to the old one. Theres more distinction between the screen and the black border, like the screen when it's off is a very very slightly different colour to the border. Battery doesn't seem quite as good with this screen either. On the other hand, the original screen had a kind of unevenness at very low brightness which this one doesn't seem to have. It is a Samsung screen not an ebay cheapie job.

I upgraded to ICS via Kies last week. Yesterday I went to show a friend a funny video I took of my new born baby being sick. The gallery preview did not work stating File not available. I restarted the phone and then the file disappeared altogether. Quite annoyed as it was a good video and I have no other copy.

Help me here chaps.

I really want to try CM9 but each time I download it, I get:

com.android.keyboard has stopped - ok
com.android.clock has stopped - ok
com.andoid.process has stopped - ok

And then the only thing I can do is boot into download (Odin) mode to flash another ROM.

I would love someone to give me an idiot's guide please!

I can put the ROM either onto my lappy and download it via Odin (can I?)or load it to the SD card. I have wiped the cache, but still no good.

Currently running Lite'ning which is good, but I like the look of CM9 better.

Did you do a full wipe before flash CM9? The only way I have got it to work is from recovery mode

Are you wiping all the caches including the Davelik one?

CM9 is a long was from being perfect btw, don't expect it to be a panacea to your requirements.

Yes.

The errors above occur every time, either nightly build or stable.

Now it seems after the first minute of a call via the bluetooth to my Audi it disconnects. The caller is still connected to the phone but the bluetooth stops and radio / cd kicks back in. Fail!

This didn't happen before ICS upgrade.

As I've advised before...

Download Odin, extract it to your PC somewhere.

Follow the noob proof guide on page 1 of the thread. Its really not too difficult. This should ensure that you're doing things properly.

It sounds like you're not wiping the phone, and / or there are incompatible bootloaders or other files.

If you're still stuck then you'll need to take us through the process of what you are doing; don't bother on XDA, they'll just assume you're a muppet (which you may be, but probably aren't biggrin)

Whoohoo!

Finally got CM9 downloaded and working. Very impressed with it.

One probably stupid question, but if you download the latest nightly build, does it wipe all your stuff, or does it just apply a patch over your existing set up - home screen icons, email, etc?

Just apply it over the top, works fine.

Ironically, although I do like CM9 I am tempted to try and find a really stable, battery friendly ROM, and that probably means going back to a Samsung based ROM.

If anybody is struggling with battery life, try Easy Battery Saver.

It's pretty much fully featured for free, and significantly increases the battery life on my SGS2
