I had a few days where the battery was quite noticeably bad, for various reasons I ended up removing the Facebook app though and the battery is absolutely rocking it now, yesterday I was still on 79% when I sat down after work 9 hours after charging it. I had all the syncs turned off in Facebook too.
Facebook app is terrible, even without the syncs constantly running in the background using memory and CPU, and in the foreground trying to get a GPS fix (things you can't disable!) terrible, terrible app.It didn't really crash, it was just... not that great. I had a bit of a clean up sesh on the phone and went mad uninstalling things. Found I somehow had like 3 different weather apps installed that I don't remember installing any of. Anyway nothing that was listed as taking a lot of the battery up, except FB which was usually listed as 10-20%, but I'm sure it's had a much much much bigger effect than that on battery life.
I too have noticed that the facebook app is buggy, slow, and now incredibly bloated, and I have also noticed at times it "sticks" and drains my battery. It also smashes away at the GPS for unknown reasons.
So I've uninstalled it, but the one thing I missed about it is the ability to share photos so I suggest the app "MyAlbum" which gives you the ability to upload photos without the app.
I don't know what it is about Facebook but they seem unable to make a good mobile app. Both on Android and iOS the app is rubbish. It seems a little better (or at least, looks nicer) on WP7.

To be honest, I don't have a problem with my FB app draining power or using GPS, but I do keep GPS off most of the time.
Got a couple of probs with mine at the moment, in that the screen will lose all brightness after about 30 seconds if you dont move it or touch it. Needs to be put into slumber and woken up again to get the brightness back. Changing settings doesn't do anything to help - auto brightness, etc, tried them all!
In an effort to eradicate the above I have tried to upgrade to ICS via kies, but I can't even get Kies to recognise the phone, let alone do anything else. I have the latest version, etc, but just no joy at all.

I decided to try ICS again as I had gone back to gingerbread.
I have installed the litening ICS Rom v3.6 and so far am impressed more than the last time I used ICS. I believe the guy who did this rom is porting jellybean which should be interesting when it comes out.
And it is easy to install and doesnt wipe apps and data. Just download the .md5 file, put the phone in download mode, open odin and put the md5 in the pda tab and install it.

Well all being well, my Galaxy S2 days will soon be behind me...
The reason? Watching a video of a Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean (Android 4.1). It single handed takes the Nexus hardware, which is not exactly cutting edge, and sticks a great big whopping twin turbo on it and puts it into the big league again.
The S2 is a fantastic device though and if it wasn't for the fact this swap costs me very little to do, I probably would have stuck with it... and to be fair, the S2 will receive JB I'm sure, but it will be overlaid with TouchWiz, and its this bloat I'd like to get away from; indeed, I know the likes of AOKP and CM9/10 exist but they never quite work as well as the stock OS on a device designed to run it.

So why not an S3, for a real step forward? The reason? Watching a video of a Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean (Android 4.1). It single handed takes the Nexus hardware, which is not exactly cutting edge, and sticks a great big whopping twin turbo on it and puts it into the big league again.

Something about the fact that (a) its twice the price of a Nexus and (b) still has TouchWiz on it, which was the whole point of the exercise - getting rid of it. Ever since ICS came out on the Nexus, I've coveted vanilla Android.Don't get me wrong, TW aint that bad, but it is a little bit childish looking and once you've tried ICS onwards in its naked form, you'll probably not want to go back IMO.
Quick question about a little thing that bugs me. Is it possible to adjust the length of delay to the screen returning after you finish a call?
On my S2, it seems to wait a couple of seconds after moving it away from my head before the screen comes back on and I can end the call, so I wondered if there was a setting for this anywhere?
The iPhone has perfect timing on this - you finish your call, move the phone down and the screen is already ready for you to hang up.

I think it's a 'feature'. Note how long it takes for the screen to turn on when you return it from sleeping. On my S2, it seems to wait a couple of seconds after moving it away from my head before the screen comes back on and I can end the call, so I wondered if there was a setting for this anywhere?

? It takes about .1 second? I've had my phone for a year and it still takes just that, don't notice any delay there?
Really? Mine takes well over 1 second, doesn't matter which ROM I've tried, and I've see it mentioned many times before...My two SGS2's are both completely stock (on official ICS).
