What gearbox mod from the clk black series ?
the clk black series has INFERIOR gearbox software . the clk cannot blip on downshifts , if your car is blipping still on downshifts you dont have black series software . if it is no longer blipping sorry for saying this but you are insane as us black series owners have been trying to put c 63amg software on the black to make it blip for years . ( check american forums for our eternal quest ) .

i know rob very well but this sounds very very wrong .
Definately blipping on the downshifts still, perhaps i am wrong but i am sure that is what he said, perhaps it was the shift points as i am sure the red line moved with the re-map

As mentioned to the OP call and have a chat with Rob he will be able to explain it all
im not really interested that much to call matey but you paid for it i thought you may be interested .
Id be very careful of a gearbox mod using anything from a black to a c 63 as the c 63 box was very slightly different mechanically also .
I know this because my black series is currently in germany having the gearbox modified .

He means the black series throttle map, not gearbox map. Another vote for Rob / DMS mod's mine felt fantastic after the upgrade. mine was standard (no PP) prior to DMS.
That makes sense because gearbox tune from the black series is just not Rob from DMS . I know Rob very well we travel to spa together every year and that just didnt make sense .

MB finance wanted a chunky deposit based on the age of the car. Other option is a new car (whoop!) for the same deposit and the same monthly payment (with a 7k contribution from MB would you believe WTF!!!????????!!!!!!!!!!)

Negotiations ongoing - obviously the new car has a three year warranty as well................................

If I can get a brand new one for the same outlay then I'd be bonkers to go for a 40k miler with three years under its belt.

More to follow. One thing is for sure. MB want rid of stock new ones!!

That C63 deal is a bargain. It's on the coupe, saloon and estate. Over £7k retailer contribution (ie 12-13% discount) and LOW rate finance. £5995 deposit. 36 months at £599. It's highlighted on the 'offers' page within the Mercedes-Benz website.

This was my suspicion as well- Mercedes charge around 7000 Euro for the ppp option giving 30+ bhp, while DMS can apparently offer 60+ bhp for circa £1500 via a re-map?

Have any C63 owners used DMS or any other company for tunning and and achieved the 520 bhp reported plus the dramatic torque gains mentioned on their site?
Sorry i only just saw this:
Yes i had my C63 tuned by Rob at DMS, from memory my end figure after tuning was 525bhp
The difference was night and day, i left the workshop in Southampton with a massive smile on my face.
If you are considering this upgrade ring DMS and speak to Rob he will explain exactly what he does and what changes to the ECU are made. It was very nerve racking watching the ECU being opened up so that the tune could be uploaded.
From memory in addition to the tune Rob added the Gearbox Tune from the CLK 63 Black
I did have a few plays with a friend of mine who had a standard C63 with the PP and the my car was clearly pulling away from him, needless to say he got his car booked in soon after
I know that initially there was a problem tuning the cars fitted with the PP as something had definitely changed from when my car was tuned. After half a day of investigating Rob had cracked it though.
Thanks a lot for the info- so in other words DMS tuning gives very similar or even slightly superior gains at 500+ bhp to the mercedes performance pack plus, which is what I was hoping for as I would be looking at a 2008 car, which would have pp but not ppp.

Could I also ask what the cost of the DMS upgrade was?

Earlier on in the thread I think £1500 was mentioned, does that sound about right?

Either way you pay 6000 +36x600 + acceptance fees etc. total about £30000. You will own the second hand car but still need to pay £27300 for the new one......it's unlikely you would have any equity in the car, surely the new c class would have been released by then? The old car should still have £15k of equity in it at this point. So you still better off buying the used car. Surely MB are looking forward to 3 years hence, they will have 3 yr old, low mieage cars to shove on the forecourts.....they know that the cars would have done less than 30000 miles as per the purchase agreement!

But effectively leasing a car for £30k before tax, petrol, servicing and insurance is not a bargain as some silly phucker further up the thread thinks, is it? PCP mind control strikes again!

Someone will be along soon to say that they invested the equity into something else which quadrupled in value, making them tens of thousand in profit. They never say what this investment is though........

biggrin

Worst case scenario - £765 month. £9k year. For a £60k car of this calibre. Not expensive really is it for a brand-new amg wink. A 991 with a £6k deposit will be more than double that monthly payment i bet. And as for insurance, fuel etc, that's irrelevant whether it's a new car or a 10 year old car. In fact, you could buy a 2 year old amg and quite easily get a £2-3k next-service bill.

I stand by my 'bargain' comment hehe
