How much different can the 6.3 V8 be in the E63 that gives 525hp and the SLS which gives more ???

I think they just De Tune the engine in the C63 so its not quicker than its bigger brothers.

So I'm assuming DMS are just De Restricting it ???
If I'm correct, the internals are a higher spec in the SLS and E63 engines.

The engine is not the same as that in the SLS...Only the C63 Black comes close. The internals are the major difference.

IIRC Palmball sent his C63 to Brabus to 'unleash' (clarksonmode) MORE POWER (/clarksonmode) and it came back exactly the same.

The reason being that Palmball had the Drivers Pack already on his car. The only way to increase the performance on a PP plus car with drivers pack is to go down the modified headers route which I think was going to be Palmball's next move.

Unless you want to start messing with engine rebuilds, you'll never get SLS performance from a C63.

With the E63, then I would expect exhaust changes along with throttle body changes would help significantly as I am lead to believe this is what MBUK did with the DR520 along with crank and piston changes.

I was looking to improve the performance on my C63 but instead improved my experience and did a few track days and so far am loving the power as it is now I am able to control it better and get the power down better. Not saying I am a god behind the wheel, far from it, but I have found since having a some driving improvement lessons I was a long way off using anywhere close to the cars limits.

mmm.... It is always a bit risky messing about with ECUs ect.

Probably the best thing to do is just get someone to take of the V Max limiter and just be happy with the already huge 457hp and 600 nm !!!

dunno about that really. It is the state of the UK market that if you care about resale, you shouldn't be modding a family performance sedan like the c63.

all DMS does is allow the throttle to be closer to FULL OPEN.....given that if the cooling systems between PP and the regular car is not changed, this should have very little impact on car longevity.

If you care about warranty then this discussion should only be after the warranty lapses.

but, as you have pointed out the 457bhp is plenty (prolly underated as well) and the combination of skinny 255 tires conspire to give great fun. Any more power is wasted anyway.. notice the the c63 black has much wider rear tires.....

I love the skinny tires on the c63 and is what makes it such a great car.... the only mod I would ever do is to add the LSD if you haven't got 1.

other than that, it is a perfect sedan. perfect for what it does which is lovely, lovely 4 seat comfort and performance.

people rave over the skinny tired toyota GT86/BRZ when we actually have a similar recipe right here with our c63s smile

Send it to MKB in Germany . Have headers , exhaust , ecu done . Gearbox can be strengthened and you will get tuv approved work with 2 years warranty and 580 ps .
you will have a wait though , takes a long time to get in to MKB they are very small operation .

I reckon they must tickle it with the BS stick

How come Merc give you 30hp more with internal changes etc at great cost, yet DMS can stick a computer on it and within a couple of hours find another 70odd-hp. Think i'd rather have a genuine 30 and a warranty personally smile
This was my suspicion as well- Mercedes charge around 7000 Euro for the ppp option giving 30+ bhp, while DMS can apparently offer 60+ bhp for circa £1500 via a re-map?

Have any C63 owners used DMS or any other company for tunning and and achieved the 520 bhp reported plus the dramatic torque gains mentioned on their site?

"Anyone wanting a higher top speed can purchase the AMG driver's package. This costs £2160, raises the top speed to 174mph and includes a driver training day"
Given that turning off one setting in the cars programming will be the work of mere moments, that's one hell of an expensive training day...

Exactly what I was told happened....and it was supurbly fast. Every bit as quick, if not quicker, as my old 05 SL55!

What an awesome sound!
Hmmm that video really p*sses me off.

There is a time and a place to rag your car and built areas, with narrow streets + parked cars either side of the road + pedestrians ain't it. Irresponsible, selfish driving that gives petrol heads a bad name.

T*ssers!

Sorry I am not sure but I know they do the highest level of work and it is NOT cheap . I have been out to see them and you would be very surprised to see the amount of well know " tuners " cars that are in their workshops .
They had a 1000hp sl black series there that had crushed everything before it at a tuner test at nardo , that car was so modified regarding cooling , tuning and gearbox etc etc that it was almost completely reengineered . Plus , they actually BUILD and rebuild engines ( not ship them off like most so called tuners ).
I know many official merc dealers in the middle east use them too and they do a lot for other " tuners " .
My clk is out there at the moment , im having the gearbox modified , I was actually sent there by persons i cannot even name related to mb (!).
In short , they are the best merc tuners ive ever seen and ive seen a lot and asked EVERYONE about my gearbox !

i dont think palmball had the drivers pack on his car?even though mercedes quote 487 for the ppplus his car was producing 503 bhp standard from the factory, with the brabus ecu it only went up to 507bhp so they refunded him.there are some people on the mb club that have had a ecu remap and it has made a difference on ppplus cars.

Proper outfit then! cool

Why are you having your gearbox modified? Improved response? tbh i didn't know you had a CLK Black! Love that car too. Saw and heard one at a Supercar meet i went to with mate last year and ever since then the 'Black-series' has had me interested.

Definitely a proper outfit .
Im having the gearbox modified to blip on downshifts , I think the old serious will be perfect with that mod .
Thinking about headers and tune ...
