Hi Nick, car going back to dealers this week for seals to be replaced around roof/top of window and also headlight cos condensation has got in. Mind you, we've had such awful weather, it's not really surprising a little bit has got in, after all, it's an old car. All being done under warranty tho, so that's good. Fingers crossed everything will be ok after that. You been out and about much? Took it up to London a couple of weeks ago. Great having cruise control to beat the speed cameras!

Cruise control is nice, I agree. Using the speed limiter function is, I think, even better if you're looking to keep within speed limits. These things are brilliant and they're the sort of feature that separates the MB from the riff-raff.

Hi Woody, I've had a couple of cross-country trips, but both in the rain... One to Newark Air Museum via the Fosse Way and then the new A46 was pretty good. But then I had to drive to Lincolnshire and back - the infernal A43 and A1 weren't much fun in the pouring rain.
I did at least manage one day with the roof down though.
Fortunately my car lives in a garage, so doesn't suffer from the damp getting in.
'Single spanner' service due in a few weeks - I wonder what rabbits the dealer will try to pull out of its hat this time? Last time it was 12 expensive spark plugs....
Cruise control is excellent and I use it whenever I can. After getting home from Gulf War 1, I bought a Prelude with cruise control and all the cars I've owned since then have had it. When the time came to sell my second Prelude, I had an invitation to go and look at the then new RX-8; the fact that it didn't have cruise control was a significant factor in my subsequent decision not to buy one.
Mind you, it felt very weird to be cruising at 140 mph in Germany using the cruise control a couple of years or so ago.

Bought a black 2003 SLK 320 a couple of weeks ago from a dealer....it had been his wifes car and far as I can tell has been well looked after. The body is excellent and I love the car 'specially with the top down. A Mercedes dealer has told me that the car will tell me on the dashboard when it due for service.....but not knowing the full history of the car.....for example it has done 92000 klms and has not had the plugs replaced , should I rely on the car telling me when a service is due or should I get a basic oil change, transmission wash, oil filter etc done ?

Just joined this club, collected my SLK 320 a week ago. First registered very early in 04. So far really pleased will offer the high speed relaxed comfortable cruising that we want with flexibility of hard top when required. I have the owners manual but does anyone know if there is a more detailed version? Looked at the Haynes site but they do not appear to do one.

Hi Guys, what weather? No good for top down stuff. Think I bought it by mistake in Autumn instead of Spring! It's still a fab car though and I love putting my foot down and having the confidence to know it'll shift, especially at roundabouts.
Am hoping to find a garage to rent near the house, so I can keep it in there in the winter. Our garage is full of motorbikes at the mo!
Anyone know of southern england MB meets?

Well, I took the car for a minor service (52000-ish miles) - service, change brake fluid and change oil (8 litres of Mobil 1), plus VAT.....£365.58. They also told me that the front pads were 90% worn and the air filters were due for a change, but parts weren't in stock. So, back again the following week and another £300+ MoT due in August, so hopefully nothing more until the next one the following year! Complimentary wash and vacuuming both times though. Gave me an opportunity to wander around the showroom looking at other cars - the new SLK really is butt ugly, particularly the SLK55 AMG..... There wasn't a single car in their showroom which I particularly liked; M-B really do need to return to the days of understated elegance rather than ugly, overstyled, blingtastic vehicles! Perhaps there'll be an opportunity to put the roof down again soon....?? Summer? What summer?
