Yeah think it's the best deal on the SLK I've seen if it comes into fruition.

stone chips said: Watch out for MB return standards at the end of your agreement, I returned a E220 cdi at the end of my agreement and received a bill for what was quite frankly body marks that were virtually impossible to see. That wasn,t just my opinion incidently , a friend of mine who just happens to be a vehicle inspector for BCA checked it over before it was collected and had to admit it was in very good knick and more than acceptable....not for MB though....they collected it as arranged...took it down to the midlands somewhere then set about constructing a nice big bill for me....fortunately I was armed with my own vehicle inspection including photos...a few phone calls and letters later and the bill was reduced substantially to cover just one kerbed near side wheel. Apparantly MB are well known within the industry for trying it on when vehicles reach the end of their agreement.....you have been warned.....I will never lease from them again.....and I actually look after my cars well. Sounds very similar to my experience of Mercedes when car was given back (you can search for thread on here). Is a shame - as their hand back policy really tarnished what was an otherwise excellent experience of car ownership. I am currently looking at slk's for my wife, and these lease deals look perfect. I just cannot be bothered with the hassle of the returns.

Is it likely similar deals will be available on the new A-Class when it comes out later this year? If it can be had cheaply on contract hire will be quite tempted in 2013 when I'm next planning on purchasing.

A,B,C,E's are just fleet fodder and have been for some while, there will be plenty of deals on them which makes it great for us I also see the chairman of MB would like production to be cranked up above and beyond BMW & Audi figures so extra pressure on the Manufacturers to shift even more metal and the way to do this is offer massive discounts to the leasing companies.

With the finance pack i got a really detailed brochure showing size and type of acceptable / unacceptable scratches and dents. If they stick to this it doesnt look unreasonable. Is this something new?

I just cannot be bothered with the hassle of the returns. Another vote for this - these people are in my mind not much better than scammers. You look after a car well, give it back and they undertake what can only be described as a forensic level of inspection using special lights and reflecting parallel lines onto the car to determine where the bodywork isn't perfect. They took issue with a repair that was done by a MB dealership and approved MB body shop and tried to charge me for scuffs on the underside of the front deflector that were impossible to see unless you laid on the floor and look underneath the car. So in short if you deal with these people and keep the car in excellent order be ready for at least £1,000 worth of claims which over 8 months or more you might get back down to about £200 and then give up because life is too short. And that was an A class... I've leased from Lex, BMW and VW and never had these issues. MercedesBenz Finance - NEVER AGAIN.

Is this something new? I had the same brochure. Seemed very fair. Then real life experience kicked in. I don't want this thread to turn into a slag off the Mercedes hand back policy, as this thread should be about good lease deals, which there are many. If you want to read more or comment then do it on this thread:- http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...Just remember to budget for approx £1000 at the end of the period into your costs, or be ready for a letter writing battle.

I've only just got mine, but I plan on getting it inspected by MB locally before it's collected.

I had the original "tart up" work done before I handed it back, based upon the dealers recommendation. Made no difference - the dealer even told me before it was out of his hand the minute it was collected.

They are going to be doing all the servicing and will get them to inspect it as well. It's just ammunition in case someone decides to be silly.

They've recently changed their hand-back company to BCA; from direct experience they are much more reasonable than they were before. You get some come and do a detailed inspection with you and any costs are agreed at that point.

Fao Fats25. I see from your other thread that you had the problems with a pcp. I have recently taken one of these on the agility finance option (my first ever) on a c class coupe and am a bit worried after reading these threads.
However I don't plan to hand it back to MB finance as my preferred options at the monent are to either buy it (if it suits at end of three years) or to part ex it (as should have some equity) and was told if latter it's not so important (also told can part ex anywhere - may go back to Audi A4).
Have I been given duff info here?

Hope this doesn't sound harsh but the idea of equity (aside from a few hundred quid) in a PCP is a false one. By this you either mean that you paid a larger than required deposit - which doesn't count as equity as they just spread that over the duration of the contract to reduce you monthly payments - or you mean that the guaranteed final value or balloon on the car is conservative - well they never are because the finance companies are pretty accurate on this count. Again not being harsh but you've bought a car that is approaching the end of it's life, well at least the design will be best part of 8 years old by the time you come to sell so that will hit your resale too. All negative sorry - best thing to do is enjoy the car worry about the money later!

I have to agree with olf. Although it was a PCP that i did, when I negotiated the rate I made the balloon payment as high as possible, with the least amount down.
I knew from day 1 that I would be giving the car back the day the 24 months finished. If I remember correctly the balloon payment was 27k, and the actual value of other similar vehicles at the time the deal finished was around 21k. My key driver was to spend the least amount over the downpayment and 24 month deal, hence keeping the GFV as high as possible!
If I were you, just think of the monthly payments as a lease. If you do well on the GFV then excellent news, but don't rely on it for your next car, as I suspect you will just give the keys back, fight your battle with Mercedes handback (although perhaps BCA will be a better experience), and wall away.
