Just done a deal on PCP (with guaranteed buy back price) for SLK200 with AMG kit at local MB dealer (Worcester), who were able to get a PCP within £10 a month of best lease I could find out there. So if anyone saw a palladium Silver, with red nappa leather & pano glass sunroof on list of cars available , sorry its gone wink

My understanding is tomorrow is deadline for MB dealers to close deals for Q1,(ensuring client gets car by end of month), where they get some cashback from HQ.

Hopefully keep the missus happy for next couple of years & might get chance to drive it when the sun is out. Must say I was very impressed with the interior on these cars... very classy.
well done mate - i tried them first and they couldn't get anywhere near my internet price 5 days ago ? maybe you caught them in a good mood smile

enjoy the car mate

So it is just about it being new then?

Its not actually about value for your dosh, its just to get a new car.

Right, thankyou, for clearing that up. Im not missing something afterall. Carry on.
Not just that - the fact that is hassle free and, on my BM at least, I won't ever need to service it, put tyres on it, or even remember to tax it (a new one will arrive in the post!) There will never be any surprise bills (except for accidents) which means I don't need to have a contingency sat waiting if something breaks.

Oh, and the fact that I'm driving around in a 50+k car for the cost of a Golf is also appealing....

I think you are completely missing the point.

You would need to buy a 10 year old 100k mile + CLK220 to get your figures to work.
That would cost you around £7-8k and yeah at the end you would have a car that is still worth something.

A 3 year year old 59 plate E Cab will still cost you £25k, and in 2 years time it will be 5 years old and worth around £15k trade in or £17k privately.
So this is costing you about the same as hiring, but you also have the fact it is a 3 year old car with no warranty, it won't have the later 7g tronic plus gearbox which is far more economical, it will have the older media interface etc. etc.

For someone who wants a newish E Cab, hiring is currently the best way to do it, to buy one for cash makes you a bit of a moron when it is cheaper to hire it.

You have to remember, Mercedes are giving the hire companies massive discounts that even the dealers can't get close to, this allows them to shift metal without actually showing these discounts, it is all hidden under 'rental charges', this keeps residuals firmer and doesn't annoy someone who has just spent £35,000 on one.

It is all about playing the game.

There are loads of ways to save money, I was going to suggest he could save a few quid a month and cut his internet connection. That would benefit everyone. wink

Does anyone know if there are likely to be any similar deals avaialble next month? Most of the current ones end this month which I guess is to do with the financial year end. I will be after a C Class estate soon and could be very tempted to lease at the current prices but its about a month too early for me. Am I going to miss the boat by waiting or will new comparable deals be available?

Getting my C Class estate next Friday. Ordered it exactly a month ago. No money down till delivery.
Was told to order early to allow for car to arrive at the docks, be made etc, if not in stock.
This was through LingsCars, had very good service so far, can't fault it. VERY responsive. Never had to call them once, all dealt with via their own online ordering system. No room for error as all communication is logged.

Not a lease but just ordered a C250 CDI Sports with 18" alloys and SatNav (Becker) for £338 (INC VAT) a month. That was with the Merc £4800 dealer contribution and £2600 on my 5 year old Scenic 1.9 130. It's on a PCP scheme, 12K PA miles.

Not bad?

Well, if you amortise the Scenic p/x over the term it becomes £410/mth. I think that's still very good.

Is that all a 5yr old Scenic is worth though?

This is who we used; but have ordered a SLK 250 CDi Auto with metalic paint for 6+23 for 250 per month inc vat. The local Merc dealer couldnt get close to this price, he said they had a steady stream of peple come through the door looking for them to match or better this offer but its a corporate offer that the retail guys cant offer.

The lady at the leasing company said they only make money on the 180 admin fee, not sure how true this is.
Hi mate - would be interested to know how you are getting on with the car and what you think of it ?

How about a C200 CDI SE for 2k down and 199 a month - 24 month contract?

SLK was 2k down and 249 per month if I recall correctly.

Both in The Scotsman...not on their website
C class deal was actually £1999 deposit and £219 p/month....fantastic price for C200 SE

Went and had a look at a few older SLK55s today as my first foray into Merc, but can't help but feel that going for one of these SLK250 CDIs is a better and more sensible option. Have made a few enquiries, and will pop to my local (Stevenage) dealership hopefully tomorrow (er, today... I've been up looking too long) to see what they can offer to compete.

I've also come across salary sacrifice schemes mentioned. My employer does it for bicycles now (yawn), so I've made a speculative enquiry to HR to ask whether this is possible for cars too. Would be nice to pay for it before tax and national insurance!

Ive found this thread interesting...

I'm on the fence with leasing as ive always bought my vehicles wisely and sold them within a year meaning I tended to break even over the course of the year.

I do like new cars but im always drawn to a slightly older cars which when new would have been out of my budget, let someone else take the big depreciation hit then buying them after 2 years say.

The only reason im considering leasing this time round is im tempted by a GTR... residuals on these cars are very very strong, strongest in class in fact, meaning the for just over £400 you could have a lot of metal...

Oh...if your wondering why im in the MB forum its because i was also looking for a cls 350 sport but in comparison to the gtr the payments are coming in at around £650
