Further to the headlight complaints referred to above....

I have had a C Class Sport Estate for the passed few months with the 'Intelligent' headlights and for ages I couldn't get what all the excitement was about and couldn't get the main beam to work....

Then I read the manual....

Headlight rotary switch to right of ignition switch is set to AUTO.

Push the headlight control arm forwards and when the headlights are required they will automatically call up dip or main and you also get a special symbol on the speedometer.

The dip and main beam reactively and steer into slow speed turns. Just brilliant!

If you want to by pass the auto feature, pull the lever back again and in that position you have auto dipped beam only. The main beam will not engage.

If you turn the rotary control to manual....fully clockwise....then you have standard manual headlights with manual dip and main...but why bother?

So in fact the high beam does work, and still no one has managed to explain why stop/start is an issue!

Yup, pretty exhaustive list of "problems" then! hehe

I can see why some may not like Eco stop\start (car is in control, not the driver etc, even though you can easily switch it off), but MB clearly advertise that their cars have stop\start, and if you've bought one & didn't realise how it operates, then you should've had a test drive first!

Take your car back, its faulty! Mine has them, a black switch on each of the back doors (not hidden, exactly where I've seen every other child lock switch ever!), flick up to activate child locks, down for off.

HTH

Next 'fault' please....... wink

I'll put my hands up and admit I didn't check there, you know, where they usually are.

Don't they have injector problems, or was that just the early (59?) models?

It does the same with my Blackberry, and isn't perhaps ideal, however once you get used to the fact it does that it's second nature to search by surname.

Either that or re-key all of your contacts into your phone backwards wink

They did, and that was fixed. There now appears to be recalls for some later cars for an ECU/loom/injector fix. Changing to Delphi solenoid injectors is the rumour.

shirley having surname first, followed by first name is the CORRECT way to have contacts appear?

Just ordered a new E350 CDI with comand. I'm hoping (probably in vain) the issue with iphones not being able to provide a data connection for the comand on-line will be resolved by the time the car arrives in November.

It's a problem, I just want it to be the same as my iPhone, is that too much to expect, ( surely Apple did more research into what punters want than Benz Mercedes)
Terrible you cannot change it, ultimatley I like to list people like John Smith or say Peter the heater...I've almost crunched the car scrolling through surnames and another complaint the voice dialling is sheight 💩

Argh! I don't *have* to explain; I just find it a complete pain in the arse frown

It's obviously not a design "fault" though; the stop/start obviously manages to lower emissions by a crucial couple of g/km, and no doubt the only way the eu will accept the manufacturers quoted figures is if such a feature is "on" by default. I'll just have to live with it.

If I was to say "there's a fault with my Mercedes. When I put the handbrake on, a handbrake warning light comes on" and someone was to say "err, how's that a fault" and my response was "look, I don't have to explain, it just really annoys me ok!", would that make it a fault?

I just wondered because potentially there are hundreds of "faults" with mine! biggrin

Why is stop/start an issue? Even if it is a novelty at first, presumably you just get used to it?

I have the same beef with the lights (R172 250 CDi) - what was wrong with having a light switch whereby I could turn them on when it's dark, and off when it's not? confused I can tell when I need my lights cos it would be dark and I would be unable to see.

Not noticed any issues with puddle lights. I do have a slightly rattly dash though.
