The more I look at that car, the more I like it. I recall an early 129 starred in TV mini-series about a naughty barrister which caught my attention way back in about 1992; it was this colour. Sadly life does not imitate art. Or, perhaps, gladly.

Naughty barrister, that rings a bell. Anything deviating from this description is as rare as the cerebral and erudite copper.....

Glad you have finally found the right car for you. I have had my 92 500SL almost 2 years now and have loved every minute of ownership. Has only had 2 previous owners, full device history every tax disc and receipt for ever nut an bolt. Enjoy you new toy.

Congratulations Zonergem, that looks like a lovely example. Great colour, any more pics?

Welcome to the 129 club! She looks like a nice car and in a great colour. Let us know how ownership goes these next months.

[quote=Zonergem]Yes, pearl blue 348, listed on the data card at the back of the Service Schedule as primary and secondary colour. But it does have darker Sacco panels - I've seen references to the list of two tone colour codes somewhere on Benzworld so will have to hunt out.

Zonergem,

I have just checked Brian Long's perhaps definitive book on the R129.

As regards the two-tone Sacco panels on a Pearl Blue car his listing is not showing a separate paint code for the panel itself which might be the reason your car is as described whereas, for example Almandine 512 is complemented by Sacco panels in Navarra Red 521 which could also be matched with Barolo Red 540 and Pajett Red 587.

Thank you everyone. Unfortunately I can't peek out of the window at it, since it's locked up underground miles away. But the car cover arrived this morning and is cluttering up the hallway, so I'll visit it tomorrow this afternoon right now. And I'm dog tired - was up at 5.45 to go and get it, then still awake past midnight filing old MB service invoices into plastic wallets. Previous long-term keeper (not the trader I bought it from) divided his time between the UK, France and Bermuda and I am sure he didn't take it out of the garage all that often. In fact there's an invoice from 2001 for a hardtop hoist (not the shuttle, alas) and I have his email so a polite inquiry might be on the cards.

@thepanyas - very beautiful car. Bornite and mushroom is a combination for the sensualist.

There won't be proper pictures until Guy Fawkes Day as am a bit pressed for time.

Anyone know how to self-exclude from the Classifieds? I'm dangerously tempted to buy a matching W201.

I tried to justify buying a 190e for my daughter recently but she reminded me she doesn't have a licence yet frown

Today's kids, eh?

I was finally successful doing a window reset on my 97 SL. I suspected the windows were slightly too high making the hard top squeak every so often. Disconnecting the battery didn't work so I disconnected it for about 3 hours which did work. The controller lost its memory, obvious when opening the door as the glass dropped much further than normal. Lower then raise holding the button a few seconds after it had raised and now no more squeaks or groans.

Good news. My mechanic advised disconnecting the battery and then touching the two leads together (you need a spanner / length of metal) to allow the car to forget any bad habits it has picked up. I'm not very clever but it seems to do the trick

I did try that route but had no joy. Simply disconnected the earth at the battery and left it a few hours which did the trick. How long the controller keeps its volatile memory I have no idea, I read somewhere 'at least' one hour.

My Nipper has just bought a 94 320

Does anyone understand the water channel that takes water away from where the roof meets the header rail and side window?

I'm sure there's a hole in the A pillar rubber but seems blocked further down?

I'm not sure there is drain @ the "A" pillars. I had mine apart to adjust the latch microswitches a while ago, and don't remember anything.

Any threadists want to aim even lower than 3/4k? Here's a sub 1k SL... doubtless soon for the breaker's yard.

Go for the 190, I love mine, they are a quality little car.

My 2.6 190:

My SL at the moment. (!)

Presumably the hood doesn't work as there's no pics of it. If I had somewhere to put it I'd have that as a parts car.
