Both rear wheels on my 27K miles C350 are corroding from the centre towards, they are otherwise pristine. Fronts have similar corrosion starting but are no where as near as bad. Car is still well within warranty but Merc have refused the claim. Had to go and ask the dealer what Merc said as the initial enquiry was about a month ago but they had “forgotten to let me know”

Is this corrosion pattern unique to my car or have others suffered the same ?

..just like 996GT3 wheels - the laquer looks to have given up. Porsche very rarely honoured warranties for this type of corrosion so good luck with MB.

Happens all the time to diamond cut wheels. When the wheel is mounted on the hub the lacquer is chipped and water gets in. Due to the design of nearly all the wheels, the water collects in there and gets to work.

It is a known fault but Merc are a-holes about it. You can get them refurbed for about £90 but only really once as they remove the surface of the wheel, and it will come back.

But so many manufacturers are now providing diamond cut wheels.

i have had diamond cut wheels replaced by my main dealer before.
i would ask for correspondance / reference no of the warranty claim to ensure the dealer isn't just fobbing you off, and explain you shall be going as far as you can via milton keynes; i know for a fact if you are a long term customer this would be dealt with, but if you have no real track record with the dealer, or if your car isn't MB fsh they will not go the extra mile to help out...
hope this helps, and do post up how you get on.

My previous cars (gti) monza II alloys suffered from this and in fairness (I would expect) to VW they changed one under warranty.
