Although I'm a big fan of the CL and own a CL65 216 model I can't quite feel the love for the new model that I have for the lines of the 216.
Again having looked at the inside of the new car at MB World a while ago I just felt the interior looked 'too busy' whereas the 216 car which was in my opinion a real step up from the 215 model just has that rather plain but elegant look.
No doubt the new car performs very well and in 3-4 years time will be a bargain barge (relatively speaking) I think I may resist buying the modern version.

Agreed. Whilst I’m pretty confident I’ll end up with an S500 or a S63 I still don’t think the shape is as timeless or indeed individual as the W216.

With only 27k now in the 216, I reckon it’ll be sticking around a little longer.

This is my C216 CL 63 had it for 18 month now and love it. Possibly the best looking coupe M.B. have ever built imho.

Here's mine at the same event, although I didn't have the chance to meet and chat.

I would be of the opinion if you require 4 comfortable seats on a regular basis the S class with its four doors is the obvious choice.
You can carry four passengers in a CL but you do have to press the front seat button and wait for the seat to move forward before getting access to the rear which is a bit of a procedure.
On the looks side MB have been building these large elegant coupes for a long time now and seem to have got the design about right from the start.
I remember ages and ages ago seeing what must have been George Harrison's big black MB coupe in Reading and thought what a big black monster of a car it was, but it had that certain something about its style despite dwarfing everything around it. Of course thanks to AMG you have the choice on bonkers engines too which is a bonus. So far all of them in my opinion have stood the test of time design wise.
