I thought you all might like to see how my vehicle was treated when it was taken into Mercedes for some warranty work to be done.

They were replacing the exhaust tips as the chrome had pitted. According to the service manager it was just boyish banter and a routine test drive.

I find it a disgraceful way to treat a customers car and would of expected a better quality of service from a Mercedes Benz Dealer.

Main dealers are no better than anyone else, for some things worse. At least you know the techy has tested the acceleration and gearbox. biggrin

Sprint........I have done the route of Service Manager, Dealer Principle, MBUK and lastly Daimler in Germany and sadly to say nothing.

All I wanted was a face to face meeting with the DP, so he could apologies in person and agree that his staff should be more professional and treat customers cars with the respect they deserve. The dealer knows what it took for me to get into this car and considering I have purchased 5 previous cars from them, I would of thought they would have given a little more consideration to my complaint.

That is just a short clipping of the full length video of the way they perform their duties as so called professionals, it also shows on the video that he breaks the speed limited on 2 separate occasions.

Actually that's quite tame compared to different stuff that goes on. A techy @ a main I worked for a while ago wrote off £80k of customers car on a road test. Techy blamed it on faulty esp for "throwing" him off the road, kept his job & dealer buy's customer new car.

More here.

Why post an old video of not much happening? Unsure what the gripe is here?

Redbaron……..my gripe!!

I may be naïve but I thought I was buying a prestigious car and using a professional dealership.

Not much happening..............his arrogance in saying he was going to smash it up, he breaks the speed limit twice, his language, his colleague sprays the car with his jet wash, he drives my car as if he had stolen it. It is my car and I work bloody hard to get the nice things I like in life and I feel incensed that my hard earned pleasure was abused by some little toe rag enjoying a jolly.

Interesting. This is my local dealership too but I only use them for parts, stuff like this is why I only trust one local garage in Piddlehinton with my car.

I really don't see the.problem. He briefly gave it some beans.

He was not power sliding, or ragging it around the car park etc.

Agreed, but then again its not the whole video. He might have been worse or may have been better in the rest of the vid.

But the OP said the car went in for" They were replacing the exhaust tips as the chrome had pitted."

Any need for a test drive?

And that's the key point right there. Even if it wasn't being ragged there is still no need for the test drive. I feel the pain of the OP but if the car is ok and undamaged maybe you should just write an email with a link to the dealership and leave it at that. Any compensation you get will be a bonus but i dont think you should lose sleep over it.

I'm sure he's selected the 'worst' bits.

Who knows? Perhaps they do a health check, and a quick drive is done as part of that?

i think a "test drive" is part of the workshop standards so has to be carried out. If they could get away with it most techies would rather not drive the cars at all.

Wow. I hope that one day my life is so utterly perfect that I get upset at a mechanic giving my car a very brief burst of firm acceleration for about four seconds on a clear section of road before backing off safely well before he caught up with the car in front! biggrin

Oh yes, and he had a bit of batter with his mates and said a rude word or two didn't he? You don't expect that sort of thing from mechanics do you? smile

yes

From my experience spent at a dealership, time spent on road test was precious time away from earning bonus in the workshop laugh
