Just had a letter from MB Finance to say that they apologise for late delivery of my annual statement and, as per legal guidelines, will reinburse the interest on the loan. So that's £150 winging it's way to me before Xmas.

The way the letter was worded seems to be that this MB Finance issue is national, therefore I expect any other owners, sorry renters, will be receiving similar letters shortly. Keep your eyes peeled for the post!

Over six hundred quid for me! Mine was about 5 months or more late - not that I'd have noticed.

When i got the letter i had to phone them to confirm. Its a bit absurd. I feel a bit guilty about it, but I'm not so affluent to be able to tell them it doesn't matter. It's a lot of money for missing a very trivial bit of paperwork. That's the way things are these days with the FSA, ppi claims and so on. I just hope some poor person at MB hasn't lost their job because of this.

Obviously they're very aware of how things go in the finance industry at the moment and have done this to forestall FSA fines etc. It must have cost a fortune - imagine it was, say, 2000 customers at £500 each - that's a million quid down!

I'm happy to take the money, but part of me thinks it's a crazy situation to have this happen for the sake of a piece of paper that I doubt anyone reads anyway.

Northern Rock made an error in statements, they weren't even late....and I had a couple of years worth of interest refunded on the unsecured part of my mortgage. Well into 4 figures, took 4 years off my repayment end! (Credited it back on to the balance)
