First MB - C350 CDI

Hi,
I'm due to pick up my first Mercedes in a weeks time - 2010 W204 C350 CDI with AMG styling. I can't wait!
It's had 1 owner from new and done just over 50,000 miles with full Mercedes service history.
Is there anything I need to look out for or common problems on these that I need to be careful with? It's my first auto car as well so lots of things to get used to, especially as I've made the jump from a BMW E46 330ci
I've been reading up on the various MB forums and got a good idea but these engines seem to be trouble free, unlike the C220 with the injectors issues. Am I wrong?

Watching this thread with interest as I am in the market for a C350 CDI Sport Saloon.
Have been offered a very nice spec 2010 Estate but really want to have a go in a facelift model to see if it's worth saving for the extra performance - can see that the later interior is more modern and most have heated seats but want to see if the difference between 231 & 265 is worth it.

Mine is the 2010 model without the DRL (fogs instead) ans has the indicator lights on the wing mirrors - must have been the facelift model before they realesed the 'new' shape.
I test drove mine and had a look around MB forums and they seem to be regarded highly. As soon as I put a deposit down, I had a look on PH and AutoTrader and there were only 12 others nationwide, with the same spec, mileage and age which says to me that they're reliable and worth keeping. I could be wrong however..

I have a 2009 W204 C350 but a petrol estate version. It has done nearly 80k miles and there are no rattles, squeaks, and everything works perfectly. Servicing even at Merc dealership seem reasonable and even better value if you take out their care plan option (monthly payment plan).
The Continental ContiSport5 tyres don't seem to last very long, I only got 7k out of the rears (but partly my fault as it was slightly over inflated).
Comfortable on long journeys, the 7 speed auto is perfect (hardly ever use the manual mode unlike in my DSG Golf R32). HK sound system is awesome, the sat nav a bit rubbish but it does it's job just about.
Kids love the panoramic roof and the boot is big enough to swallow their double buggy no problem.
It is my first Merc and doubt it will be my last, lovely car, only a C63 AMG will tempt me to part with it.

That's defiantly reassuring. I'll be taking mine down to the local MB garage once I've got it and see if they have any history they can pull up.
It's had full MB service history and loads of electronic print outs rather than the old fashioned stamp in the book. Doesn't look it like it's had anything major a part from filters, oils etc. but I will guess the cambelt (if such a things exsists on these models) will need replacing around 70K.

I don't think they use cambelt, all chain driven, well especially on my petrol version.I don't have a complete dealer stamped book either, as it is all on their computer and like you lots of Mercedes print out off all the work done and at what mileage.
Well I've picked her up today and what a machine so far! Driving back from the garage to my home I averaged 48.7 MPG (A roads and town driving), so well chuffed with that.
It's so easy to drive, 7 speed auto gearbox and can change it to the paddle shifts at any time. It's a great piece of kit and touch wood can see myself owning and driving it for it a while.

It's a fabulous car and my first Mercedes. I can't get anywhere near 48 though! Not according to the trip computer. I'm averaging about 35 at the moment. I do mostly town, but with blasts of motorway.
It replaced an ST220, and feels a massive step up. I only bought it earlier this year, I replaced the winters that it came on with a full set of Vredestein Sessantas.

I have a 2011 C350 estate - it's the Bluefficency version, pre-facelift which I think was only sold for a year.
Managed over 50mpg recently - 40 miles on the motorway at 50mph on the space-saver spare
Otherwise I can get 40+ on the display if I drive carefully on a smooth A-road but usually average mid-30s.

It was a good car all round, liked:
- The smooth engine, even better after being remapped
- Smooth gearbox, although it could often get confused moving off in a hurry and when you suddenly need power
Didn't like the very light steering.
I averaged 36mpg in it. On a long slow boring run (70mph) it got to 45mpg.
No issues and the running costs were pretty good for the car although the CO2 is very high for a diesel now.

I can safely say, I have never managed to get 48mpg again! I think it may have been taking it easy on way home from the garage to see what it was like. No I have a better idea of the power, braking and gears, I get an average of 38/9 mpg. This is a combination of mainly motorway and a road driving.
Funny you should mention the light steering wheel as I thought the same. My previous car was a BMW E46 which had a really heavily wheel so wasn't sure if it was me not being used to it.
Taking the car to get tracking/alignment done as it pulls slightly to the left when driving 75/80+. Other than that, really happy with it and no faults so far!
Is the remapping worth it? How can you possibly get more torque than it's already got!!

Sadly yesterday as I was driving to work, some woman hit into the side of the car 
Sorted the insurance out blah blah and then get a call from the Courtesy/Hire Car Company whilst mine is goung in for repairs..
"Sir, our drivers will be with you at 11.30. We have a 2013 C180 Coupe"
The lack of power and torque for the next few weeks will make me miss my C350 even more!

Hi I have 2010 c350 cdi blue efficiency I've owned it around 4 months now and defently the nicest smoothest car I've had yet. I've only seen 45mpg on a 4 hour trip on my way home when I was trying my hardest to get it as high as I could, don't think it would of done much more. I was getting 23 to 27 mpg on the way there and such an enjoyable and comfy journey. So far the only regret I have is not getting the panoramic sunroof which I do kick my Sen over now,I have full spec just missing the sunroof, over all I love it much better than my Bmw It's a fabulous car and my first Mercedes. Lukey, welcome to PH. The message you have replied to is over four years old. Better late than never!
Mrs Phlap had a 2010 pre facelift 350 CDI Sport fully loaded and ran it for 4 years and 80k miles. Absolutely nothing went wrong with it and only costs were consumables and servicing. As a day to day all rounder it was hard to beat with surprising poke and decent economy. Recommended and part of the reason I now have a C63.
