What's the saying. If you have to ask you can't afford it? Not being rude but the c63 is a hooligan of a car and just demands to be used. I've a number of cars and the c63 is the weapon of choice to get somewhere cross country quickly. 18-20 is probably best you get. Also managed to get a B service and brake fluid for 420 from local main dealer so servicing v cheap relative to other performance cars.
Thanks, I've already said the fuel consumption is in line with my expectation. Even if it drinks it, I always like to know what to expect (roughly) i've always watched every penny - a habit I can't (nor do I really want to) get out of now it really doesn't matter.

Great to know that servicing isn't totally daft.

Weirdly I'm looking at tuning options already, VERY unlike me. I'm normally not keen on modding.

you guys are living the MPG dream! I live in London and get 8.7mpg no matter what I do.. best I have seen on a motorway trip was 18mpg over 75 miles. I have had the car for a month now and I absolutely love it but this thing drinks like charlie sheen on a bender!

Within reason I think most people accept they'll need to pay for their pleasure with a car like a C63 and fuel cost goes with the territory along with servicing, tyres, etc. However, just because someone's interested in fuel consumption doesn't mean they're worried about affording the bills; personally I find a relatively short range quite irritating and hence for me the question around mpg is more about how often I'm going to have to fill-up than anything else.

21.8 mpg from mine since new. Now at 25500 miles. I agree the 66 ltr tank is not big enough but to be honest it hasn't really bothered me.

agreed, the range is the worst thing. A bigger tank would be a great improvement.

The funny thing is that when you look at the spec sheet, it calls the tank "extended range fuel tank"!

Agree with everyone here in that its worth knowing how much fuel it uses, in fact, living in london I find myself becoming almost hypnotically obsessed with watching the mpg readout, in town I seem to average about 9mpg, motorways about 20mpg. I got an iphone app to compare the onboard calculator to real life mpg and was pleasantly surprised to find it pretty much bang on. Getting about 140 miles out of a tank is annoying though, especially with filling up in london.

All of that tends to disappear though once you get a straight road, and hit the loud pedal...

There, fixed that for you wink. This maybe why my last tyres lasted 4000miles!

I miss the sound of the c63 every time I drive the cls but although I now manage about 25 (on a run) it does have an 85 litre tank so as previously mentioned Aunty Optimax doesn't need visiting as often.

15mpg for me with 6k on the clock from new. One upside is the engine tone gets better and better the more miles you put on, and the initial oil consumption (1l per 1000 mls) stops.

I have to say it's definitely worth getting if you have the opportunity.

Hi

I normally have mine on the AMG setting, not the trip / fuel setting.

Oh, 125ed coupe, face lift PPP + every option in the book except for the weird night vision display.

Absolutely love it. Have had and still have other higher performace cars, but this is the one and will keep forever.

Recent 4k mile trip around Europe including ridiculous speed trip around Germany returned average of 24.9 MPG"

Did 14k miles in four months - absolutely love it!

Loving mine at the moment (2010 P31 with V4 Eurocharged map and quaife). GPS verified 4.2s to 60 and pulling 0.743G at 58mph. Im confident there's a sub 4s in the beast.

How on earth do you manage nearly 25 mpg?

I really don't understand this attitude, at all. I'm fortunate enough that owning and running my C63 from new doesn't need much thought if I don't want it to, but I hope that I never, ever get to the point where I can't remember the value of money.

I'm getting 11mpg in normal use, and accept that that's just how it is, but it's ridiculous to suggest that owners should not care. If you are also running a Veyron, you might have a point. If you are not then the above just comes across as being boastful about your wealth.

It was said tongue in cheek.

Btw B service plus brake fluid ended up at 390 inclusive vat at Mercedes dealer. Down from their original quote of 600 after some price matching. Always look after the pennys etc.. Helps pay for the fuel smile

I think all comments are just for fun,
As I see it if you are going to worry about fuel and MPG should you be looking at a C63??? Your choice. My wife has a little abarth 500 great car around town, lots of fun.
People just need to sit down and think what would I like in a car first!!!
If a c63 is for you then just go for it I love it, fast fits 5 people.

Im not worried about fuel, I just like to know what to expect. As a financial advisor i'm sure you'd see that as good practice.

A C63 is also not a cost-no-object car, a veyron or a Ferrari 250 probably, but not a 35k C-class.
