Well the sun was out, so good enough excuse.

Cars just had bulk head replaced, a full body respray and has a full service history . Drove beautifully and great to deal with SLShop on this car. Look forward to picking the car up in a couple of weeks smile

looks great, I would love one of these but for practical reasons had to go for an R129.

Last yr I had my eye on a white 280 with hubcaps and black leather. I notice the car is still for sale (and not expensive) so maybe this one was best avoided.

I think £15k gets you into a straight car with higher mileage. You're looking at £20k plus for the cleanest cars and even higher with low mileage.

Best thing to do is make a visit to the guys at SLShop, as they really take the time to talk you through your options and each car. Very enjoyable experience buying a car from the guys.

Good luck.

Cheers Dave

They restored a 107 on Classic Car Rescue this week. The first one they bought had to be scrapped due to bulkhead corrosion. The state it was in was frightening!

Saw that. Shows the horrors that are out there and could easily be hidden by unscrupulous people.

I did note the paint runs on the boot in one of the shots after spraying . Get a feeling it's all a rush job for a bit of theatre. No mention of service history with car etc. Be interesting to know when it was filmed too.

Congratulations Dave, that looks splendid. We've had our 107 for about 7 years now and some memorable trips.

I really enjoy mine. One of the first 30 RHD made and solid in all the important areas. A lovely cruiser but no sportscar!

Lovely looking car that. I've had my 420 for a couple of years now and love it. I've spent a lot of time making sure it's rust free and mechanically as good as it can be which has repaid me with a lot of fun on a few European classic car runs. Sadly need to sell soon though to pay for a more costly than expected house extension. frown

I can't begin to tell you how much I want to keep it, especially after all the work and new parts that have gone into it. Unfortunately, this house extension presented us with a few very costly problems along the way..

The Classic Car Rescue car was a complete bodge and worth nothing like £13K+ even in today's market. It's pure theatre and a bit of a laugh and that's all.

There are still plenty of 107s around so there is no reason to buy anything with serious rust(even a replacement bulkhead would make me think so what about the sills, bumpers (and behind), chassis legs etc).

In just 4 years of 107 ownership I've heard of plenty of horror stories of rotten cars that came from supposedly reputable dealers. These cars can hide a lot from the unsuspecting buyer so always have an independent inspection done by someone who knows them inside out (i.e. not the AA or RAC). It doesn't have to cost a fortune - lots of current owners who know what to look out for are often very happy to pop to view a local car to help someone out. Join the official Mercedes Benz club and start posting on the 107 forum - take in lots of advice before you even start looking and test driving cars.

I have a facelift 500sl and it's bloody brilliant and I can't see that I'd ever sell it.
