Good evening all.

My stunning C63 is just over a year old - and has just gone through it's first service at MBW Brooklands two days ago.
It's only done 8500 miles - and I'm getting about 18mpg (but don't really care because it wasn't bought for its great fuel consumption!).
Today however was a bit painful on the wallet - though not as painful as it could have been!

Suspecting a leaky valve on the rear left wheel - I had Mercedes inspect it during the service.
Bad news - it wasn't a valve but a screw that was deeply embedded in the tyre that was causing the very slow pressure leak.
A quote from Mercedes Benz World for a Yokohama 255/30 R19 91Z V103 was £312.26

Frantically I sought other tyre options - but with the vehicle already shod in Yokohamas - I decided to stick with that brand.
K&P tyres in Ewell quoted £248 - but when I turned up to purchase I was told - "Yes that's the price I quoted but we don't have any!" mad
Should have made my position a little clearer over the phone may be - but there again he said "We've got Yoko's at £248" (he did NOT say - "we'll have to order them".)
More phone calls ensued - and Kwik Fit in Dorking not only matched the price - but slightly bettered it.

Here's the crucial bit. After much grimacing and hand wringing - I decided to order TWO tyres - as apparently with my right rear down to 5mm it's already 47% worn.
My thought was - a car with this performance should probably best have tyres with equal tread (especially on the rears) - and I'll keep the good rear tyre (just incase I get another puncture post 5000 or so miles!)

As it turns out my decision was fortuitous - because as it turned out the right rear had two nails in the tyre also! rolleyes
My fitter was Ben - who did an excellent job - he took great care with the alloys - and seemed to take professional pride in dealing with a 6.3 litre AMG.

Thinking about it - I'm more than a little surprised that MBW didn't spot the nails in the right rear - or am I being too presumptuous that after inspecting the left rear and finding a screw and a deep cut - that they might have naturally inspected the other tyres? Perhaps I am confused

Any way - I feel very relieved to have ordered two tyres - and to have received a very good price and service from the chaps at Kwik Fit Dorking.
Hard to know how to convey your gratitude when you get your pride and joy returned to safely and unmarked - but I returned to the depot 10 mins later with two crates of beer drink - the least they deserved was a beer

So - £240 per tyre. An expensive day - but a necessary purchase.

Mike, I paid £236 each for two rear Yoko MOs last week. Protyres, Slough, part of the Micheldever group, is the place.

Thanks Rob,
I did actually check out Micheldever also - and was directed to Pro-tyre in Crawley - but they stated they'd take four days to get the Yokos in stock.
But appreciate your top tip sir.

Cheers

I ditched the stock Yoko Advan's for a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports on the rear. They have similar dry / wet weather grip but seem to be lasting much longer.

Will be changing the fronts in the next couple of months - highly recommend them.

I got them for £420 not fitted.
