Viano - what are they like?

Looking to use one as a base for a camper.
-they are much cheaper than VW T5
-Come with bigger engines, cruise control etc.

what do i need to look for, you regularly see them with 300k miles, so must be fairly durable.
the internet says watch out for rust, but the vianos, all look to be ok, compared to the vitos and old Vclass.

There are a few van owners on mbclub.co.uk, so you'll find a lot more info there. I think rust was still a big issue until fairly recently. In addition to the usual diesel maladies, they suffer from Black Death which is caused by a defective seal on the injectors.
