No timing chain worries, this isn't a BMW, and my water pump is working very well at 38,000 miles.

I got 22mpg driving mine back from Winchester to Somerset, then since ive been enjoying it, mostly about 15mpg. I'm not worried about the fuel, more the rear tires haha.

My last year of ownership has seen a A0 service coming in at £1200, new bonnet sensors £110, and a new wheel (chocolate 19” cracked) £600 for a single wheel! All parts will be more than the ST because ‘mercedes’ and I average 16mpg most tanks. But is all worth it as soon as you turn that key and you start leaving the door open when you do! Also watch your shins on the exhaust after a long drive and getting something out the boot!

Did the cost of your AO service include the bonnet sensor an replacement wheel? 1200 is alot.

The AO is just and oil change and gearbox oil is it not?

If you want to drive a fast car around town, then you should expect to pay more for the privilege, nothing unexpected in that, most towns are so bad now though, a cheap 4x4 may well be the answer.

The merc service plan covers two services and is cheaper than 1200 quid. Hence my question.

I've done the cheap 4 x 4 thing, I loved it, but then, i had a good one. But the call of a V8 was too strong.

Nope was just the service the sensors and wheel happened separately. It was all fluids/filters and spark plugs plus their usual ‘checks’. TBH I think some of the work should have been completed at previous service before my ownership but had just had a basic oil/filter.

It's a sore one, but hopefully worth it.
