These cars seem popular at the moment. I guess time will tell whether customers stay happy or start pining for more cylinders!

Loving this little A45. Dare I say it, more than the C63. And its not even run in yet!

Burn the heretic! How dare you come on piston heads and say a bloody 4 pot is better than a V8. wink

Psst, I also really enjoyed my day in the A45. Brilliant little machine! Not as brilliant as say, a Porsche Cayman S, but not bad at all.

Sadly you are correct

When it's run in Jason I'll take you out for a proper run. If the boxter can keep with the A45 in terms of fun ill be impressed.

just found out (via mbclub) that drivethedeal are discounting the A45 by 8.5%, just specced one up, and yup, £3297 off. Think I'll mooch on over to a dealer today and have a poke around.

It certainly will not keep up speed wise, but I drove both back to back and I found the Cayman more to my liking. Obviously a personal choice. But the A45 was great fun in standard spec. In rebellion spec it'll be just plain rude.

0-60 in 3.5 sec (if true) is stupid fast in a straight line. Only 10 years ago you needed a Carrera GT for that kind of time.

Black Series please! wobble

A Black Series A45 would be offensivly fast. As it would in all likelihood be faster than virtually all the other AMG range, I fear it will never be made. You never know though.

I think we will see one eventually. The new RS3 and BMW M2 will have ~380 hp, Golf R 400 will have ~400 hp. A Black A45 with 400-ish hp would be a perfect match for those cars in 1-2 years.

I would imagine a 400bhp + car will not be far off. Weistec are developing hybrid turbos etc. So as long as your willing to potentially invalidate a warranty there will be a few very high powered little rockets kicking about.

Rebellion V2 Stage 1's are already 410 to 420bhp. Their hybrid stage 2's are edging toward 450bhp with testing ongoing. Also, they have a TCU map which is plug an play which apparently makes the already fantastic gearbox even more fantastic.

Boggles my mind how this 2.0l turbo 4 cylinder is approaching the output of the 6.2l V8.
The guy who designed this 4 pot must be a wizard, it's a shame he was poached by VAG but I can see why...

If you were to re engineer the 6.2V8 to match the 2.0t in the A45 just think what you could be driving. That's circa 1100 bhp!

And then map it!!!!

They can strap two turbos to Gallardos and get stupid amounts of power, I wonder if anyone has tried that with these engines?

I've read a few your posts about your A45, long shot I know, but ever driven an Evo or an Impreza (or anyone else)? If so how do they compare?

The CLA AMG, the A45 and the C63 are kind of on my radar. I can budget for a 2-3yr old C63 or a new 45, but am worried I might not get what an Evo (on the track) can deliver, if that makes sense?

Thoughts please, thanks.

Jason (Tackmeu) has extensive Evo knowledge so I suggest he is the man to ask. My angle is: not as track focused as the evo but much more refined and capable.

Not as track focused, perhaps. Although the A45 had so much mechanical grip I was astonished. I immediately thought of the comparison to my Evo and given equal power and I'm going out on a limb here, I would say the A45 would be the faster car A to B, particularly over our beautifully surfaced roads.
The suspension is compliant in a way that would confound the Evo.

You feel more confident it the A45 , but the Evo might still be my wet weather car of choice, just because of the way it moves around. However, I've not driven an A45 in the wet yet.......

Excellent, thanks both for the input.

Interesting comments about the wet. I have Yokohama Paradas, not a tyre I like in the wet anyway so never push it too hard.

Thanks again.
