Now, the box. I leave it in econ mode to be honest. I've put it into sport or manual only a cpl of times but mostly it's not worth it when running the car in. I don't really care much about gearboxes these days. I'm a GT man not a sports car boy now.

Opened the taps on the Graf Spree in the last cpl of days a little and good grief this thing has some guns on it! 4000rpm is plenty quick enough whilst running in so God knows what 7k feels like.

As the C63 is about to die then the SLK will be the last big na V8 Merc won't it?

I reckon they'll update the SLK with the 4L TT V8 as a model year update at some point in the near future.

Only had my CLK55 for a few days but I get a sense it's a keeper. Did my first full bore overtake from 60 upwards. Crikey! Bet yours with an extra 60-70 hp flies!

I'm being a good boy and keeping to 4500rpm. What happens above that can only be fun.

It's the v8 blip on startup that makes me giggle most.

1100 miles down.
Upped her from 4500 to 5000 rpm from 1000 - 1100 miles but the wife did most of that and behaved herself. From 1100 - 1200 I'll up her to 5500 rpm. Already silly quick in the mid range so buggered if I know what another 2k rpm will feel like on top of that.
