how much approx for Quaife diff ? any ideas
Current price as posted on the above linked forum. Seems good to me, I think I paid slightly more for mine a while ago.Current Quaife group buy on MBClub forum at the moment. Cheaper than buying from Birds direct. http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/amg-lounge/161971-q...

Perks of going Quaife: Zero maintenance. Literally a fit and forget item unlike the OEM unit that will wear out over time and needs regular fluid changes. At £1900 fully fitted its cheaper than the OEM unit. The Quaife system is tried and tested. OEM LSD has a 30% lock (im led to believe) and the Quaife has up to 80% (again this is what im told) lock which means that it should be even more manageable in a slide than the OEM item.

But the Quaife will give zero locking under braking. A very important and oft overlooked factor in diff choices.
I ran an OEM factory fitted diff for 70,000 miles on my C63. I can't say I ever felt the need for anything different in terms of the amount of locking it offered. It was by far the most driftable car I've ever driven. Absolutely beautiful in a slide.
To add balance, I also ran a Quaife aftermarket diff in a 987 Cayman S for 50,000 miles. I had zero issues with it, but as mentioned above the lack of locking under braking meant it failed to give the same levels of stability that a plated diff gives when braking hard.
Just my tuppence worth..
